It has to be the same width. You want them to be close to (or a little longer than) the XJ pack. You can cut them to fit, but you can't make them longer. Also, a high spring rate means a stiffer spring. This will make it taller because they will sag less from the weight of the vehicle, but they will also give a rougher ride and less flex. The most lift comes from vehicles Sprung Under Axles because the leaves have more arch, even if they don't have a high spring rate.

Ok, and what about my brake lines? Do I need to make them longer?

At 3", you can relocate the front lines, and it's recommended that you extend the rear. I didn't immediately extend mine when I lifted it, but I was planning to do it before I took it offroad.

Ok, I'll probably do that. I'm probably going to get some Dodge dakota springs, any model should work right? That chart says they all have 2-1/2 width and 64" length, and all have a considerably higher spring cap than the s10. What is your personal recommendation?

I bought Explorer leaf springs cause I got them cheap in a part-out, but then I got a great deal on some Rubicon Express springs, so I never made my bastard packs. S10, Dakota, and Durango springs are all common.

But in terms of flex and ride, arent the Dakota springs the best?

Check Dukie's writeup - he combined the XJ leafs with the 99-04 Dakota leafs for I think 4"... can't remember... he loves the setup though.

so I am about to put a 3''(daily driver) on my 2000 sport. Right now I have 16'' wheels gunmetal that came on a limited. I want to rock some 31s but didnt know if that would require backspacing. And what size tires exactly should I be looking at. Also, I had a 95 w 4.5'' lift that gave me lots of trouble with the driveshaft until I got a SYE. Can I get away without a SYE with a 3 in on 31s? Thanks for the help

4x4 group buy parts has an Old Man Emu 1.5 lift kit. springs, shocks, T-case drop, and JKS quicker disconnects. Should I need anything else and Are the Falkien tires good?

I was wonderin, how wide do my rims have to be to accept 31x10.5??? i have stock alloy rims now not even sure how wide those are... but anyway i need a little help...

A 7 or 8 inch wide rim would work fine

All I meant is I want it to look like I care about my jeep some. Not like someone that doesn't care if they wreck it and leave it on the side of the road.
( I have seen hicks that don't care..and white trash that doesn't care) So I did not intend to say that you didn't care. Just people around where I live..whether farmers or just welfare rats seem to not give a hoot whether there truck is a decent looking truck or not. Just different cultures in different area's.

I was not implying that your jeep was a bad looking truck either..
I just prefer have the finished look. But I probably don't wheel as hard as you do. It probably makes more sense for you to not have flares.

But for a daily driver I like the flares. So I didn't mean offended you or anyone else on here.
