so I am about to put a 3''(daily driver) on my 2000 sport. Right now I have 16'' wheels gunmetal that came on a limited. I want to rock some 31s but didnt know if that would require backspacing. And what size tires exactly should I be looking at. Also, I had a 95 w 4.5'' lift that gave me lots of trouble with the driveshaft until I got a SYE. Can I get away without a SYE with a 3 in on 31s? Thanks for the help
As far as your second question - the tire size doesn't dictate whether or not you will need an SYE - whether you have 235's on 3" lift or 33's on 3" lift, the driveline angles are the same - the ground clearance will change because of the different in diameter and ground to axle height, but the driveline angle is what will be affected by lifting the jeep farther away from the axles... Many on here have not had any vibe issues with 3" lift and many have... so it's really hard to say - if in doubt, buy the SYE, lift the Jeep... if you don't need the SYE after you perform your lift - return it.
Hope this helps.

Canyons, but then again they aren't XJ factory rims... they are factory rims though... Moabs also are 8" wide, but they're 16" and also aren't XJ factory - guess your right - XJ factory rims are 7" wide, but as we all know, lots of XJ's out there have canyons that have been thrown on there.
These XJ factory rims were 6" wide http://www.hubcaphaven.com/mm5/merch...gory_Code=2595

lol... yeah man... when I was shopping around for my XJ, I test drove on with about a 4.5" lift and 31's on those rims.... thing was so friggin' unstable. I could have dealt with that, but the guy messed up the tranny something fierce but claimed "it's just got a small leak from the lines 'cause I broke a clip - just need the clip and it will be fine" - puddle under the jeep was so big, you could have drowned a dog in it.

Hey guys. I'm in the middle of putting my 3" lift on. The front is all finished except for the track bar. I am putting the adjustable track bar on and I have the axle centered almost perfectly. But the track bar is adjusted all the way short and I don't think it's quite enough. It's the iron rock offroad kit. Any ideas of what I should do? Put the stock track bar on? Or just keep the adjustable one on and all the way short and it just won't be perfectly centered? Hope you guys are following my explanation. Thanks for any help

It was an upgrade thing for the 3" kit. Not the double shear one. The other one they have. I took the xj down off the jack stands and straightened the wheels by eye. Then I looked at how much the tires stuck out on each side and it looked pretty close to the same but I decided to measure to be more accurate. I measured from the inside of the wheel well (between the shock and spring) to the outside of the tire. The one side was about 1/8 inch out further than the other. I figure that was pretty darn close so I left it alone and went to adjust the track bar and bolt it to the frame bracket thing and it went all the way short.

that'll have to be close enough then. Track bar is pretty much just visual anyways (well...within reason)

Hey guys finally got my 3" Rough Country lift on(Springs Shocks and add a leaf) then got the 31x10.50's(Federal Couragia M/T) on some 15x8(Rugged Ridge) rims and now i was just wondering if i was gonna do the 2" budget lift(spacers in front and bracket for the leafs) would i have to buy longer shocks or anything else new with that on??
