Comfortably 4-5"
If it's your daily and you have to drive more than 100 feet a day then I'd seriously advise against a tall lift OR 35's.
I built a XJ on 3"s of lift and 31's JUST so I'd have something that's comfortable to drive.

there is no minimum. Depends on how much you're willing to cut the body to fit the tires.
i strongly suggest going 33s for now - 35s require more than just a lift and cutting - you're looking at re-gearing both axles, an axle swap or upgraded shafts, upgraded brakes, SYE kit for the rear driveshaft and a new custom driveshaft, and steering upgrades - and consider that the MINIMUM.

"Cheaper"... You're doing this all wrong.
If you're worried about cost then you need to slap yourself a 200 dollar budget boost on there and find a set of 31's.
There is absolutely nothing CHEAP about doing this right.

hmm yall have given me some great ideas. i have 3in of lift already with stock shackles and no spacers. so im thinking lifting it another 1.5-2 inches would be easier and more affordable gas wise. prob still need sye, driveshaft, tranny case drop kit, spacers, shackles, shims, and center link....

2. Sye+ tcase drop= redundant, you just need an sye and a new drive shaft.
3. If you don't already have adj. lower control arms you will need them.
4. You would probably need longer shocks.

With minor trimming you can fit 33s no problem. This is my setup right now.
besides...IMO there's nothing more badass than a low slung cherokee with massive tires
