I still haven't put it on her yet. So far it only has the 4.56 gears installed. I heard the yukon axles are great, though, so I've been thinking about that as well. I believe they're chromoly or something of that sort.... I want to make it as bulletproof as I can before I fit her with it. Or should I just scrap the 8.8 and go with a Dana 44? I've heard they're comparable.....

I think in your particular case. Id go with the ford. You already have it and it sounds like finding a reasonable 44 isn't going to happen.
Just build it before you snap it. And get rid of those terrible c clips asap
