Keep in mind I'm a newb offroad'er. Here are my personal thoughts on long arms:
- Seems unnecessarily complex for my moderate wheeling needs.
- Hindsight showed mine did as well or better than my buddy's similar XJ with long arms.
- Unnecessary cost.
- Highway ride is very smooth. Not as nice as my MDX but no where near the horror stores I've read. Certainly on the top end of dozens of Jeeps I've ridden in.
Probably other reasons too. This is just my humble experience. If my build was more extreme or more extreme usage I might have a different opinion.

Nothing wrong with that.
I runs stock arms on my 3" lift.
If were to go higher I would run short arms with drop brackets on a DD.
I ran my long arms on the road for a good while. They ride nice but not necessary for the DD.

A long arm is longer than a short arm.
Edit: for usefulness.
Literally, a long arm uses a different mounting point than a short arm. Short arms are factory, long arms take the place of short arms for performance gains.

RE has a 3.5" Super Ride kit.
Only thing I didn't like about the RE kit is that it comes with U-bolts for a D-35, but the most common rear is a C-8.25. So you have to buy another set of U-bolts. I didn't care too much since I have the D-35.
