I agree it isn't needed, but for an extra $30 or so, I'd replace it. It makes on-road driving nicer. And good list. You'll be happy with RE.

thanks a lot guys for a quick response. I just got my 2nd xj. its a 99 with 80k miles on it and my first 4x4 xj. so I am excited to lift it some, but really want it done properly.
so with the kit I listed and adj trac bar I won't have to drill holes or anything to relocate, I just replace the old trac bar with the new one and adjust properly and its good to go?
anything else i have missed for a proper, done the right way, lift setup?
will probably still get the ss, because like newkindofclown said for the cost, why not.

You may want aftermarket lower control arms. They aren't necessary for a 3.5" lift, but depending on your combination of wheel width and backspacing and your tire height and width, round LCAs might help with rubbing. The stock stamped steel arms will eat up your tires IF you have trouble with rubbing.

It's a matter of opinion.

I have 235s on stock height, not too bad unless you go full turn. 31s could fit on a 2'' couldn't they as long as your not flexing?

My plan for the Comanche is a 1.5-2" lift and 35s. There are a lot of variables.
