Nothing. Leave it like it is or buy an SYE.

Is my leaves being out of line like this a problem? Also is this why they creak?

Default from 2" to 3"

My XJ sits right now with a 2" Skyjacker Budget lift, consists of Spacers in front and shackles in the back i'm wanting to lift it higher close to maybe 4.5" if i were to buy 3" coil springs how or what would the best way to lift the rear. Blocks? Add a leaf? or a bastard pack.. i'm limited on money at the moment so i'm looking for a cheap yet strong way to lift it from the rear any feedback would be great..

Bastard pack if you can't afford new packs. But remember, at 4.5" you'll need longer brake lines, new track bar, and new lower control arms

NEVER use lift blocks. trust me on that one. If you want some more lift in the rear then get a complete bastard pack or save your money and get a complete leaf pack. why buy a AAL and do the same job twice when ucan get a complete pack and do it once?

What about using a Tcase drop? Is that an option or is the SYE the only one? I am just looking at 1-1.5'' more lift

TC drop would help.
u will have to do it any ways eventually

but i have heard that the higher the lift. such as goin more then 6" u will MAYBE want a longer driveshaft.
this driveshaft thing is UNVERIFIED. do not take my word for it as i have never done more then 5" on any vehicle. If anyone would have any info on it i would apprpeciate. i dont like givin out unverified info to anyone and havin them spend money or mess up their rig becuz of it.

I have a 3'' lift and would like another 1'' or so. but don't really want to do the SYE if a Tcase drop will work for a 4'' lift

The point of a SYE is to put the CV joint in the drive shaft to remove vibrations and ease angles in the driveline with shims on the rear axle... Recommended above 4 inches of lift, but every jeep is different... When you lift a jeep the slip yoke end of the driveshaft coming out of the transfer case gets pulled out more cause the vibration noises and feelings... While some can sit higher than others without a SYE, they are the best option. And yes statically 96- XJ's are a lil better as far as vibrations because of a change of the slip yoke at the transfer case

I'm going to say it....

A tc drop should only be a TEMPORARY fix!
It's a bandaid at best. Why lift a rig to loose ground clearance??!!??!!

Chances are the creaking is from your bushings doing a bit of rubbing. Its fine if the leafs are off a bit but you'll probably want to get the weight off em and pound em back if they get any worse.

Take mine for example

This is my overload leaf, I'm not too worried about it except for the fact that it rubs my tires a bunch if I let it get too far over. I re-tighten it every once in a while in the right position. Do you have little retainers on your leafs? A trip to the auto store could fix that.

Yea, I got the retainers but the overload and the second up aren't in it. Making sense? The creaking isn't the bushings, the leaf that is out of line doesn't have pads on it like the others do I think that's why it creaks.
