Well if you've tightened them, don't remove them. U-bolts are designed to stretch when they're installed, and they shouldn't be reused.

Anybody know if theres a difference in the 4wd s10 leaves and 2wd s10 leaves? Also, does the ZR2 package make a difference? Not sure how the lift of the 4wd s10 is achieved, but i do know they sit about 2-3" higher than a 2wd model.

Definitely not a DD tire! They're kinda in the same category as Swampers to me. May be strecthing it but they grab like hell but they're only rated for 20k I think. Good thing Ive got my other XJ for DD. Other wise id be more broke then I am now haha

Oh i would definitely put them in with swampers grip wise. If they would re-work the carcass and give it a stronger sidewall then they would probably jump up pretty fast in popularity. Things grip on anything..

I got lucky, my springs came from an '87 S-10. I used all (3/1--1350#) leafs and got about 3 1/2" of lift. It's a bit stiff, but what a solid feeling going down the road. Before I did the lift, I felt like I was driving a boat with all the rocking.
Now that I look at the sheet, I can see why some Dakota springs are stiffer being at #2550 of load capacity. I'm happy with my S-10 springs.
(this forum is just CHOCK FULL of good information, thanks)

Looking to lift, need advice
Looking to lift my 99 XJ 2-3" with a full spring pack. I have no experience with lifts or installation. It appears there is somewhat of a consensus that OME is the cadillac of lifts, and they are priced accordingly. My XJ only has 80K miles on it and I plan to keep it as my DD for several years. Is there a nice, but not OME nice, option out there? Other than the price, ride quality and durability would be my primary concerns. Also, any tips in the line of "absoultely dont buy a ________ kit" would be appreciated.

Generally good companies:
OME, Rubicon Express, BDS, Iron Rock Offroad, Zone (owned by BDS, entry-level stuff), Hell Creek (for springs), Rusty's (for springs)
Generally lower quality:
Rough Country, Rusty's (non-spring parts), Skyjacker, Tuff Country, and no-name brands that are sold on one site and don't have any reviews.
Mixed reviews:
Rocky Road Outfitters. I won't order from them because I've read some horror stories, and because their website seems to have been written by an 8 year old who wants to show off to strangers.
High-end:
Clayton, TnT, Rock Krawler
This is just a sampling of some of the major companies. Everyone's opinions are different, and everyone has their own acceptable level of comfort. Keep in mind your shocks will have a huge impact on ride quality.

I have a '92 XJ with 4.5" of lift. I have no trimming yet, just removed the flares. I found some 35 12.50 r15's (Yes I have stock gears still, but I'm going to re-gear) for a steal. Would there just be so much trimming that it's not worth buying the 35's and just trying to find 33's? Or should I get the 35's?

If you have a D35 rear axle, start looking for a replacement.
