Hey guys my name is Ben I just joined this forum. I have a 2001 4.0 L sport with a standard 5 Speed tran. As I have owned this for a few years now I am looking to take the plunge into installing a lift kit and tires. I am looking at putting a 4-4.5" lift on it however I have a few questions that I could use some help on.
1) Should I run 32" or 33" tires (I am a little hesitant on cutting the fenders)
2) I am pretty much set on getting an OME lift what are your opinions on it
3) Do I need to put on a control arm drop kit
4) If I want overall ability, clearance and travel would it be better to run 32" vs 33" tires
5) Should I not do a lift kit since this is a 2001 60th Anniversary edition 5 Speed standard and the last year they were made
Thank you for any help and information you can provide

2. Never heard a bad thing about them except they dont make larger lift kits i believe. Only 3.5" i think is the biggest.
3. Get new control arms, no need for drop brackets.
4. Bigger the tire easier it is to get over an obstical.
5. Dont worry about no special edition, jack it up and have some fun.

Trimming isnt hard and is pretty easy to do once you figure out what youre doing. Really your call on it
2) I am pretty much set on getting an OME lift what are your opinions on it
Good choice, getting 4" out of OME will be hard without some spacers and shackles though, not a big deal
3) Do I need to put on a control arm drop kit
No you dont need one and wouldnt really help at that height IMO
4) If I want overall ability, clearance and travel would it be better to run 32" vs 33" tires
32's for travel if your trim and bumpstop but 33's arent going to limit you that much more
5) Should I not do a lift kit since this is a 2001 60th Anniversary edition 5 Speed standard and the last year they were made
Makes it more badass haha

Offset and backspacing are two ways of measuring the same thing. Backspacing is measure from the back of the rim to the mounting point on the rim. Offset is measured from the center of the rim to the mounting point on the rim. They just like to make **** complicated. Here's a conversion chart.

When your talking about wheeling you always want to look at backspacing because your looking for additional clearance. Offset is typically used in race cars to adjust handling. Where the center of the rim is in relation to it's mounting point is important in a race car but not an offroad vehicle.

I'll try this again. An 8" rim with a -19 offset is identical to an 8" rim with a 3.75 backspace. It's the same. They list both numbers because they mean different things in different applications. Yes we agree that clearance is what is important to us. I said they were the same, you wrote "not necessarily true" it is absolutely true. if you want a 10" rim with a 3.75 BS you would buy a -44 offset.

You just made my point. They're NOT the same thing because each number is used in different applications. Even tho you COULD actually find the offset with backspacing and wheel width or the backspacing with offset and wheel width, but most people are too lazy to do math these days. And the fact most people cant convert from metric to standard.
I have a 2000 Jeep Cherokee Sport. I live in wisconsin and im wondering what is the biggest lift and tires i can get without getting pulled over. I know this will cost a lot of money but money is not a worry. This will be driven on road and on trails.
