You don't need another kit, just order softer springs. I can tell you that next time I would probably only Rusty's springs, everything else I've seen from them is average.
My next lift will be better planned and I'll pick the best components from different manufactures but it took me 5 lifts and a lot of reading on this forum to come up with that plan.

and i agree with ya. Sometimes the first one turns out great. sometimes you mess up and the lift goes all wrong or you. i know my lift on the '86 will be much better planned then what i have going on for my '90 xj.
this forum is honestly the best place i have seen to get the advice from. not from me god forbid. but from the other users yes. nobody on here likes to see a XJ thats been thrashed due to just bad usage. i myself when i see a XJ used in a movie only to get smashed makes me get a lil peeved.

I originally came here with a question (or dozen: sorry, guys) about factory non-lift leafs, and now I read every post, every day.
I still haven't actually done anything (well, I finally got my new cat' project about 40-50% done yesterday afternoon: my first "real" auto "project" in idk how long: years! tho') but collect parts ...but I'm reasonably certain now about what I have to do, and what I still need, just from reading the posts. And I have some confidence in picking the parts, and how they work together as a system.
So I've went from guessing about what I was reading (I read a lot! ...which generally just leads to more stupid questions lol), to kind of being able to follow along ...separate the wheat from the chaff sort of ...and even judge [some of] the answers.
For example: this morning, while reading the guy asking about the stock wheel, I finally understood the importance of back-spacing and why you have to pay attention to b/s in wheel choice. I've read the various stuff on b/s for a long time - and could have quoted the parameters lol - but I didn't "get it". It finally clicked. (And sadly, now I know why my new-to-me Canyon OEM's from a couple of months back are probably not going to work if/when I want to go to a larger tire at some point, sigh.)
...so I second the efficacy of "reading this forum" regularly ...eventually, you will get a clue (if a duffer like me can, anyone can).
Thanks (again!) y'all.

Well im still stock but ive been looking around a while. According to most of the guys here Rubicon Express seems to be a favorite. Best bang for your buck you could say. Zone seems pretty well liked and cheaper too. And i know Iron Rock Offroad has some love occassionally.
But im sure the lift gurus will chime in shortly.
And this helps alot too

RE and IROR are great and a little more expensive.

So the rear of the RE 4.5" kit never settled per the popular theory. It's been about 6 months and just as many wheeling trips and seems it never changed. The rear is about 1.5" higher than the front and looks a little odd. Are coil spacers OK for the front?

If you want to wear them in hook up a car trailer with a car on it to the hitch for a few days. That'll probably help them settle if they're going to.

Doesnt sound too bad. RE is know to run higher than advertised in their lifts to accomodate for extra weight from bumpers and such. Spacers will work fine, unless you put a heavy weight on the rear i doubt it'll settle much if any more than it has already.

Ah, that must be why. I have stock bumpers, only armor on the gas tank, and when I go out wheeling no spare tire. Lighter than your average XJ.

I'm right there with ya man. I'm married with 2 kids and another on the way. Although, my wife has our tax return spent already. I'm using my bonus to get tires and a winch bumper.

Like many here I am just reading and learning before I make a move on anything. In looking at RE lifts, whats the difference between super-ride and super-flex? I assume the super-flex is just designed to allow more flex? I dont have plans to do any wheeling compared to what some of you do. A lift for me is more for asthetics than anything else. Is there any difference in ride quality between the two?
Thanks

The super-ride will ride better... main difference in the 2 kids is the super ride uses bushings, the superflex uses flex joints (RE's version of a johnny joint). Superride will be nicer around town, superflex will pop and makes noises here and there but is a bit better suited for offroad.
If your just going for looks might as well just go with RC or something less expensive.
