I can do that but the skyjacker ones are $40+ shipping, whereas I can get stock bushings for $20 and pick them up right around the corner.

Obviously the stock XJ bushings arent going to fit, but I assumed since the LCA can be used in an XJ or a TJ that the bushings would also be the same. Are the bushings in a TJ smaller?

It will work, but its the not the right way to do it. if the hole you drill is just a tiny to big you will get death wobble and end up buying trac bar anyways. RC sells a trab bar for about 100$ and it is all you need.

Default 91 jeep xj

I have a 91 jeep XJ that has the original suspension and I was wondering what some of my best options where for lifting it.

I don't want anything to crasy as far as lifts go but I was looking at the 3inch lift kit from rough country and I was wondering what anyone thinks about it. I think my leaf springs are a big flat also and I was wondering if anyone had recomendations as to a good set of replacements. I'm a college student so I'd prefer to go cheaper but I don't want to sacrifice quality to much for the price if at all possible. Any suggestions?

so i got a 6.5 inch lift on 35s, and i really want one or two more inches. I've basically settled for coil spacers in the front, but for the back i'm not really sure. I've heard to stay away from blocks, and do something else. Would something like a shackle relocation bracket provide an inch or so of added lift? Has anyone also heard of shackles for the front leaf mounting location???

if you dont already have lift shackles then go that route, but if you have a strong leaf pack a block should work fine. Although if you're pack isnt strong it could make it sag and give you some wheel hop

if you're even asking about mounting shackles to the front of an XJs leaf packs, you probably shouldn't even be modifying anything.

why do you feel the need to go higher than 6.5"?

You can get 7.5" or 8.5" coils and leaf packs for an XJ but they're not cheap.

Ok guys, I was looking at a 3.5 inch RE lift but after giving it some thought have almost decided on Rusty's 4.5 inch kit instead but I'm trying to avoid the need for a SYE since I have the NP242 TC. With the 4.5 lift and a TC drop is the SYE essential? This is a daily driver and won't be wheeled too often but I do plan on taking the occasional trail a few times a year...

Trying to stay in my 2 grand budget and with the lift, tires, and rims (amongst other little things) I'm pushing to get it all done... I know I can get the RE conversion but that's $200 and then a replacement DS is needed also... I also saw the homemade solution but would prefer no to go that route... Thoughts??

My personal opinion: Drop the coin for an SYE now, rebuild and use a stock front DS if you don't have the $$$ for a Tom Woods or HAD piece.

I've had a 3" lift for a little over a year(1991 XJ), with no SYE and new u-joints. My angles are all correct, but I still have minor driveline vibs. Not a big deal driving anywhere within an hour, but farther than that and it becomes really annoying. That and having to replace u-joints every 6 months cause their shot is no fun.

Thus why I just dropped the coin for a SYE and will be sourcing and rebuilding a stock front DS so I can eliminate said problem.

check out iron rock offroad. unsure if they are cheaper and some of their kits are also RC but theyre a hell of alot better to deal with.

do not do shackles in the front. what do you have for a lift in the back right now? when i went from 4.5" to 7" i just got 5.5" packs and a 1.5" shackle.

Currently I am at 5.5" and I have no sye or tc drop, my vibrations are very bad. I ordered an advance adapters sye and will be installing it this weekend. I am SO excited to not have this vibration anymore.
