I installed lift spacers in front and 2.5" full leaf packs in back along with new shocks. Ever since the lift my rear suspension feels like it's welded in place and the ride stiffness is almost ridiculous. Is it possible I over-tightened my shackles or something back there? Or is this just unavoidable?

What brand lift and shocks?
Also look at your shackle angle. Ideally, it should be 45°, but a lift will move it toward vertical. The fix is shackle relocation brackets.

When you torqued the various bolts on the leaf packs - especially the shackles - were you still in the air? - You shouldn't torque the various bolts back to spec until after you're sitting back on the ground with your XJ's shoes on (i.e., leave 'em loose when you lower the new packs back onto the tires). Worth a shot, at least.

I need help guys, been trying to get this figured out the last week or so but to no avail...

I know that RC 3.5" leaf packs are too short, but I've also seen some threads in my searching that RE leaf packs had the same issue. I've seen some pics of RE leafs with the dreaded 90° shackle angle...then while digging through this thread I saw someone say his RE 3.5" leafs result in a good shackle angle.

Can anyone help me with the answer here...maybe throw some pics up? I'm piecing together my ~3" lift and RE leaf packs were my 1st choice until I read they also were too short...so then I looked to Rusty's and Zone's and am just about to pull the trigger on the zone 3" leafs unless someone can help me out on this.

How big of a lift do I need to squeeze 40s in trimmed up wheel wells??? (Will 8 inches do it???

Thinking of building a bogging rig so flex is NOT a major concern

8 inches will be plenty, there's. rig on this sight with about 4.5 inches of lift and 40s.

Why are his tires sitting so far out from under the vehicle? And I was thinking either a 6.5 inch lift or an 8, it's a bigger rig so probably should go for the 8, any suggestions for kits???

If you want RE, get RE. They're a great company. The proper answer for a bad shackle angle is shackle relocation brackets. People don't like RC because they make very short leaf springs and refuse to fix their manufacturing problem.

Relo brackets add lift, and I'm wanting to keep it at 3 or 3.5" for now. I have the NP242 and I want to keep the lift mild as I work through the expected driveline vibe issues. A friend gave me 3" coils and shocks, so thats another reason I want to stick with 3". I'm just trying to find a 3" leaf pack that mounts up to the stock shackle with a good angle.

BTW, what part of Fred'rock you from? I'm out there every year or so, got some friends that live off 40 west of town up in the mountains...beautiful place. Some jeepsters setup a mud bog just up the road from their house, I was mad I didn't have my XJ last time I was there

This is a 3" Rusty's leaf pack. Nice ride and they're long enough . I'm npt a huge fan of all their products or their shipping rates, but I like their springs.

Most add 5/8" but there are "low-pro" relocation brackets that don't add lift.
