RaeCharles,

Now measure your upper and lower control arms and compare to the following:
LCA = Lower Control Arm
UCA = Upper Control Arm
Stock
LCA - 15¾"
UCA - 15"
2"
LCA - 16"
UCA - 15"
3"
LCA - 16"
UCA - 15"
4"
LCA - 16 3/8"
UCA - 15"
5"
LCA - 16 5/8"
UCA - 15¼"
6"
LCA - 17"
UCA - 15½"
7"
LCA - 17 3/8"
UCA - 15¾"
8"
LCA - 17¾"
UCA - 16"
9"
LCA - 18¼"
UCA - 16¼"
10"
LCA - 18¾"
UCA - 17"
For 1/2" lifts take the difference from the one above and below. So for example a 4.5" lift would be LCA - 16.5" and the UCA - 15".
I don't advise running short arms on anything over 6", but the measurements are there if you want them...

Based on the second pic it looks like his arms are about at the stock angle, meaning he probably has close to the 4.5" of lift that the CAD brackets are designed for (you measured 4.5" on them). I read on a CAD install write-up that stock length arms (upper & lower) are required for this bracket at this amount of lift. With aftermarket LCA's they are presumedly longer, which would tilt and push the axle forward, resulting in the springs tilting forward as they appear to be.
I'm not an expert but thats what it looks like from those angles. A pic straight on from the side showing the wheel in the wheel well and the spring angle would help...

Not with the control arm drop brackets. If the brackets drop the mounts by the 4.5" he measured, then those values start at stock length for a 4.5" lift and go up from there.

He's putting in 3" spacers on top of the lift. Even if it's a 4.5" drop down bracket he still has to account for the spacers.

Lot of unknowns here. He was removing an existing spacer for a 3". Without knowing what springs he has or the size of the existing spacer its hard to tell what he'll net after the 3" spacer. I was just guessing based on the angle of his control arms...

You nee to keep in mind that this is an expensive hobby, and you can't cut corners and still be safe.
What you really should buy is lower control arms front and rear, adjustable track bars front and rear, coils front and rear, shocks, extended brake lines, sway bar disconnects, or extended swaybar end links front and rear, and possibly an sye and new drive shaft.

Buy 3 inch coils, and shocks. Maybe brake lines. I don't know about drive line angles on wjs. You may need an sye.

Yes, all that for a 3 inch lift. You may not even need shocks for a 2 inch lift, we have been over this one already. I know on an xj, stock shocks will work with a 2 inch lift, I don't know about a wj. You may find the answer to that one on jeep forum, or somewhere.

Also, how much lift did you end up with in the rear with those?
Thanks in advance!

Hey, I was kinda hoping you'd chime in on my rear leaf question a few pages back. I read somewhere in this thread you got a good shackle angle on your 3.5" RE full leaf packs. Is that with stock shackle and bracket?
Also, how much lift did you end up with in the rear with those?
Thanks in advance!

So I have been brain storming my next moves with the jeep. So far I have come up with the following parts for my lift.
BDS longarms-$1000 (Shaun)
IRO Double shear trackbar-$200 (IRO)
RE 4.5" leaf spring-$280 (Serious Offroad)
RE 5.5" coil springs-$90 (Serious Offroad)
SYE & Driveshaft -$500 (Rustys)
Brakelines (unsure)
Shocks (unsure)
If there is anything else people can think of or wish to comment on I'm open to suggestions. Some of my current parts will be reused like extended shackle and coil spacer. I'm also thinking about getting a shackle relocation kit.

I'm guessing you have the 231TC, any vibe issues with it when you lifted?

Yea I dropped the case an inch and shimmed the rear axle 4* I still have FAINT vibes. I need to install an sye. I don't think the 242 is any more susceptible to vibrations than the 231. What year is your xj? 96 and newer are much more susceptible to vibes than 95 and earlier.
