Hi I'm new at this and Have a question about what to do with my driveshaft, I'm putting a 4.5" lift on soon and I don't want to get a transfer case drop kit because I think that defeats the purpose of getting a lift, if I get a slip yoke eliminator do I have to get a new driveshaft as well?? If so any recommendations?
Thanks for the help!

I bought a 98 jeep cherokee se from someone about 2 weeks or so ago. They told me it was a 4.5 inch lift that they had put on it, but i am not quite sure. it looks like they added to leaf springs, and there are spacers on the back axle that at quick look, are about 3 inches, plus it is sitting on 32 inch pro comp mudders, and has good clearance still, but how would i check to make sure it is indeed a 4.5 inch? I just got a replacement shock for it, and it was a standard sized monroe from advanced auto parts... The shock it is replacing was apparently a Gabriel... I want to order new ones sometime within the next few months, but i will be getting all tires balanced and an alignment soon, so i may wait on the new shocks until i get new wheels to put on as well.....thx in advance for help... also, any other suggestions for things to check out on it to get it ready for mainly a daily driver with the occasional "detour" on my way to or from work through a field or some trails?

The quick and clean method though is measure from the center of the axle to the flares ...of course, your XJ still needs to have flares. You can eye-ball it though, if you're just trying for a quickie answer.
Stock in the rear is 17 center-axle-to-flare. Stock in the front is 17 1/2 center-axle-to-flare.

I dont think ill need to trim anyhting with 29s and a 3'' lift. its 100 bucks less to run the 235/75-15 VS the 31-1050

I am finishing up my 2000 sport. I am planning on a 1.75 spacer in the front, with some added stock leafs from a parts jeep i scrapped. I am hoping for ~2'' of lift in the rear and same for the front, I want to run 245/75/16's. I don't want to trim but I am reading they will be 30.5'' and most things I've seen is that 30'' is the cutoff for 2'' lift. Anyone tell me if I can pull that off without trimming?
