I love the spintech 9000 with 2.5" piping. My XJ sounds awesome and there's so little drone I barely hear it over my tires. When I hit the gas though it opens up to a nice roar my dad likes it so much he's getting them for his mustang and bronco. They're great, well built and exceptionally small too.

Default Need a new cat?

I have a 1996 cherokee with a cat back exhaust system. its a flowmaster super 44 with 2.5in from the muffler back. So heres my question. my cat is completely shot(rattles like a ****) and i want to replace it with a high-flow cat and replace the pipe from the exhaust header to the cat with a 2.5in as well. which high-flow cats are the best? and is it a good idea to replace that exhaust pipe to a bigger size to make it 2.5in all the way? thanks in advance for the help.

Does the exhaust still crackle and pop a little? I'm looking into mufflers but I don't want tinny, or too mild of a sound. The straight pipe tends to wake up my friends' parents lol

Crackle, no. It's a deeper tone. But it does still pop a bit when I let off the gas. Check out some of the videos on www.facebook.com/wny4x4club and look for ones of a red xj. Mind you, all those videos were taken on phones so sound quality doesn't do it justice.

Flowmaster 40.
Just a lil bit louder then stock has a rumble to it and loudends around 2k and 4krpm loses most of its sound while cruseing.

Flowmaster 44.
Louder then stock. Deeper tumbler and more throaty. Stays loud even when crushing. Under hard acceleration you know she is there.

And Magana flow. Nice and deep sound. Combines the flowmaster 40 and 44.
Under hard acelleration she stays deep and clean.
How do each of these change mpgs?

I currently run a Pacesetter header/downpipe, stock cat, flowmaster 40 muffler, then 2-1/2'' piping that dumps over the axle. I like the sound, but I want it to be louder. Im thinking about getting a 2-1/2" high flow cat, 2-1/2" cherry bomb glasspack, then having a pipe made that has it exit on the passenger side under the rear quarter panel(since I have the cut/folded lower quarters).

Anyone have this exhaust setup? or have the exhaust tip in the same area?

Split manifolds on a 4.0 straight six.. discuss. Are they even made for our engines?

Default pipe size

Does anyone know what the size of the pipe is on a stock cherokee exhaust with a 4.0 engine? I want to replace from the cat back.
