You have the 4.0 right and alright sweet I just want something that sounds cool (sexy) as I save up for a full exhaust. Maybe if I really like it I'll just do a strait pipe all the way but wider diameter!

Yep. 4.0, pacesetter header, 2.5" straight pipe with a performance curve cat, and a 4" tip. Awesome!!!

Yeah that probably ld sound good but what about my completely stock xj will it sound like crap if I replace the muffler with a piece of pipe?

It depends on your definition of "crap". Lots of people like the sound of a magnaflow on a cherokee but I don't. It's all about what you like.

Thats exactly what i did and i never want a muffler on it again because it sounds so nice

Is there any reason why this kit wouldent work on my 97 xj?

What concerned me was that under the application tab, it only offer's it for the years 86-92.

As far as I know none of the tailpipe mounting points never changed from 86-92, or newer XJs. The only issue you might run into is how the muffler mates up to the cat. But since it is 2.25'' tubing just like stock I don't foresee any issues. Don't blame me if it doesn't work though

I called Dynomax, they said no-go. But, someone on here said it fit on his. Maybe he will chime in.
