2.5" tailpipe with the flowmaster s44. It sounded great to me. I didn't see any mpg difference. Probably cause I couldn't keep my foot out of it. Definitely gave me better throttle response and seemed like a little power (butt dyno of course).

Cool man. Also was one of the easiest things i did to my jeep. Took about 30 minutes in the driveway one night. I used the supplied clamps because I was just tired of the big box it comes in sitting in my house. If I did it again I would have had it welded in.

I'm pretty sure the larger muffler will be quieter. And that brings us to my question.
I am completely sick of my aftermarket muffler. Works just fine, but sounds terrible - always did. So I'm looking for a replacement that is quiet - if not as quiet as stock, then certainly quieter than the Mac Flowpath I have had for all these years.
Any suggestions? (No, I haven't read thru all 2000+ posts ... sorry)

Just a quick question...Took my XJ off-road today (first major off road trek it was on) and when I got back from the long trip, I could smell something that smelled like burning wood...My cat case is pulled open a little bit (I need a new one, it's corroded) and I wasn't sure if it was the cat that smelled like that, my exhaust, or my rear brakes...I'm just trying to get this narrowed down, I don't know if it was maybe the mud on my exhaust line or anything like that. And, as far as I know, there is no wood stuck anywhere near the exhaust...I didn't run any over that could have gotten stuck on the trip

Dynomax are supposed to be pretty quiet.
