Welds need to be gas tight though. Seems simple enough right? For some reason all the self welded mufflers I've seen look like they'very got boogers coming out the ends.

Do you think I should just take it to a muffler shop and have them install it? Or should I ask my friends to do it? I don't know how to weld so I don't know the answer to this one. Is it tough to weld the exhaust gas tight?

i have an 89 xj, i cut out the cat and muffler. running open headers for 1 day, ive been researching, i was going to make a "side" exhaust (idk the correct term, the tailpipe will stick out the rear right door in front of the rear right wheel) so from the end of the manifold i would run an 18 inch pipe, and a 90 degree pipe, will this create enough back pressure for the engine? i know its illegal to run catless, this is an offroad rig

thats true, even though i live in flat florida i agree it wont be best, i have also concluded that open headers, 18 inch straight pipe, gutted cat, no muffler, it all sounds WAYYY too loud, its badass, sounds so beast, but it drowns out my subwoofers so its basically pointless even having speakers. what muffler should i put that will make it a bit more quite, but still awesome, but allows me to still hear my music comfortably

I'm getting ready to buy my exhaust kit from performance curve. I have heard that the owner is a vendor on here. Would anyone know his name?
And if I can't get a good price over the internet or can save some $$$ I may just buy the stuff from a local parts place. Can anyone give me the part numbers to the actual piping? I'm looking to go 2.5 cat back.

Also, I just had the Cat replaced by the dealership, and the took down my muffler and never put it back in because it was "rusty". Will i need to buy an adapter for the muffler to cat connection? I don't think there is one in the kit.

So I have searched and there's a lot to read here s maybe I missed it. But does anyone make a true 2.5" downpipe? Can't seem to find one anywhere, and if I'm doing the cat back with 2.5" it makes sense to do the downpipe as well.
