Magnaflow exhaust
Interested in putting a magna flow cat back exhaust is it necessary to change the cat too. Will performance suffer. Or should I get the direct replacement magnaflow cat

TRUE!! Just because a state or area doesnt have emissions testing, DOES NOT mean its ok to to take the catalytic converter off!! FEDERAL LAW is GREATER than state at any time.

Id suggest getting the replacement cat. By replacing the entire system as a whole, you will get the full benifit/potential of the new exhaust system. But if you do not have the current funds, you will be fine with adding the cat back system on its own untill you can replace the cat. The main way performance will suffer is if the cat is plugged thus creating too much backpressure in the exhaust.

Also true, but unless the Feds are going to come inspect every vehicle to enforce it. I don't think I'll worry to much about it. It's just one of those things. But I already said I wouldn't argue about it but people keep bringing it up lol. So no one can tell me why my exhaust smells like rotten eggs after I shut it off?? Just recently started doing it.

There actually is Sulfur in gasoline, The amounts depend on how refined the gas is and your location. Sometimes the smell is more noticable in colder climates due to cold start and t6he extra fuel being delivered due to the colder climates. Now you said you dont have a "certain part". Not having this will make the smell more noticable. You just have to deal with it till the weather warms up and a better grade of gas is available.
