I never wrapped it nor do I intend to. I have a decent size trans cooler on the Xj. Besides if its wrapped and my rear main decides to go the wrap will soak in oil and catch fire then that wouldn't be good.

Are the advantages to wrapping the header is that it disperses the heat or rather holds it in the header rather than letting it spread all over the engine compartment.. right? Cause I plan on wrapping it and putting the reflective heat stuff all over the manifold and stock air box to try to reduce intake temps.

Also can you go from a 2.25 header to a 2.5 mid pipe? Or does some adapter need to be used?

I will be getting this exhaust kit, but I don't know which catalytic converter to get.

I was looking at the thunderbolt spin cat, but what is the purpose of the spin? is there a better cat I can get, also do I need one that accepts an O2 sensor in a 1998 XJ?

I have the thunderbolt metallic spin cat they are smaller in overall package size you will need to have a shop add a o2 bung on he exhaust for you.

This ^ the metallic does flow better but the ceramic will do fine for the 4.0l

If you're worried about beating it on rocks get the metallic as it won't break up like a ceramic core. Also, the ceramic core has 400 holes per square inch while the metallic has 300. I ran the metallic core on a straight pipe and it sounded like nothing was there. Very raw sound

I have the banks revolver and I thermal wrapped it, I can actually touch my intake manifold without 3rd degree burns. Under hood temps droped noticeably, im tryn to keep the intake manifold as cool as possible. The other day on my way home from work my intake temps where as low as 24.8°f! Brrrrrhh thats cold, but me and my 4.0 where happy the whole way home

I have been looking into redoing my exhaust since beginning of winter and did a little research but wanted some opinions from the "experts"

I think i want to go with this muffler/tail pipe considering the price seems nice and i am kind of set on a flowmaster 44 Here

And the cat i am not to sure what to look for but im guessing magnaflow cat here
(I could use suggestions if anyone can offer me good advice)

I want to have the downpipe outlet 2.5" and so far i found this but i still do not remember if mandrel bent is better or not or what is so could also use suggestions here

The header is something i could defiantly use some help with. I finally came to the conclusion that i should replace it as the last one it was replaced with was used and im pretty sure it needs replaced. I found

Dont even waist your money on that prebent crap! There is a DIY mandrel bent exhaust kit available at jegs. This kit contains the following
Its made of 16-gauge aluminized steel
4-4' sections of straight tubbing
4-180° u-bends
4-90° elbows
4-45° elbows
This is a slip-fit kit so you can customize your own exhaust! And yes its available in 2-1/4", 2-1/2", 3"! All mandrel bent pieces JEGS part #555-30001-30007 $169.00, 199.99, 254

I searched that part number and found nothing, I have no way to bend any tubing and have no experience with that. Plus no money to pay a shop, but i can weld my own stuff if that helps.........

My bad I guess im looking at an old magazine try part #555-30671 that should be the 2-1/2" kit, and its all prebent tubbing so no bending involved. The only reason why I got to pay a muffler shop is cuz I have no welder and I want that exhaust up there secure 100%
