I wouldn't say crazy loud...but just shy of that.lol Goin down the highway just cruising you cant hear the exhaust at all, until it shifts down to pull a hill...also it has a mean growl at idle...and really sounds great when you throttle down...but like i said if your at just a cruise its not loud at all(but still has a nice deep tone)

BTW. I finished my header swap today...long story short NEVER buy a cheap header off ebay...the one i bought did not let the manifold go into place...but a new/used header from the u-pull-it...and i was set...now off to ebay to try to get a refund.

1994 Cherokee Sport 4.0 5 spd man. *stock header/manifold/motor/everything* looking to replace the exhaust with a new system, muffler is shot and the cat has 250k miles on it. thinking of going with a Flowmaster's Delta 40 series as I had them on my old Chevelle and loved the sound of them.

questions:

Being in California and having high SMOG laws/restrictions, what would be a good cat to go with that wont rob me of power as this is my DD?

What size pipe could I install to get the most mpg/power I can, 2.25, 2.5, 3"?
Thanks!

as far as cats that are 50 state leggal i have no clue where to look at but id google california legal hiflow cats.
and id go for the 2.5 you still gain hp and tourque and dont lose any low end tourqe..if you go with 3 you loose low end but gain high end...id stay with the 2.5..

Several companies make high flows. Thing is the stock cat flows very well. Back in the day cats were built differently. Any cat with the honeycomb look inside will flow very well. Most new cats are this style.

My muffler is practically falling apart. Will just a muffler upgrade give better performance/MPG? Or do I need a new tailpipe too? Hat do you recommend? I don't want anything too loud, maybe just a little deeper than stock.

Just put a glasspack on my truck. I wish it were louder, although I am going from complete open headers (ripped everything off on a rock) to this, so maybe its louder than I think it is.

since I was replacing the 0331 cyl head. figured just to install a header. was originally gonna pick up the rusty's flow daddy brand, but there was a new bank's on cl ..so went with the banks. all i got to say, this was a PITA to install. those lower bolts are almost impossible to tighten.

hope its worth it. would be nice to see a noticeable power gain, but most important a gain on mpgs
