I had the thrush on the jeep for a while. It sounded pretty good accelerating and made a lot of "muscle car like" sounds, but resonation was awful so I replaced it with a magnaflow (think is pretty similar to dynomax) which sounds great. Van has a thrush though and it sounds awesome. I think they only really sound good with V8s.

APN header, It uses the old Banks Torque tube design. Mine ran 178 shipped

Speaking of APN, I went to install mine today and I've got major clearance issues. The intake manifold will fit into the front dowel but the rear is a no go. The number 6 pipe sits too high to allow the manifold to be flush.

I thought they were suppose to work with 99s but I guess I got a dud. Oh well, I'll just install my factory header and call this a learning tool.

Anyone recommend a good performance header with PROVEN fitment for all 99s?

You have to grind one of the runners on the 99+ intake mani for it to fit.

The amount I would have to grind is too much to justify. I don't have a powerful drill and I tried to grind some off and it just didn't make any headway. I don't really want to "modify" the header either as I would think any alterations to it without welding could result in unwarranted cracking.

Hey, so I'm new to Jeeps (just bought my cherokee a few weeks ago) and I've been looking for an exhaust setup and had a couple questions. It's my DD so I don't want it to be crazy loud, but I want to know it's there. Would I want to go with a flowmaster 40 or 50? Also, if I want the power gain will I need to go with a high flow cat?

Performance curve.Com has a great deal on a cat back system I prefer the flowmaster 44. Get a thunderbolt cat.

Thanks I'll check that out. Would I have to change the cat to see any power gain? Or could I get by with just a muffler and pipe?

I've been hit-n-miss with the site for the last year. Finally getting around to wrapping things up with our '99 XJ. It's running a stock 4.0.

Based reading through this thread, I just ordered an exhaust system from Performance Curve. Went with the Flowmaster Super 44 and Thunderbolt O2 OBDII 608396. Did I select the right cat?

Also, do these setups come with the hangers already welded to the pipes?
