You could get a NEW thrush for $30 off of amazon and a NEW cat from performance-curve.com for $40.

Okay, I am going to try this instead of making a new thread because im sure it has been covered many times. I tried to search but couldn't come up with much.

I know a lot of you guys run the speed daddy headers but my question is should I go with the ceramic coated ones or the stainless steel?

The stainless is a t-304 steel gauge and the ceramic says "ceramic coating and mild steel material"

So I'm curious really as to how strong a "mild steel material" would be.
Thanks for the help! Here are the links:
Ceramic:

It's gonna come down to personal preference and cost on this one. Obviously the SS header won't rust, but that's also the purpose of ceramic coating, along with being a bit of an insulator.

Yeah I guess so. I guess my main concern is if the ceramics mild steel whatever is going to be strong enough to do the job or just go with the stainless and wrap it

Looking for others' input on my exhaust build:

Down Pipe:
Walker 55277 $47 Walker 55277 $47
*********** Improvement over stock or not? or go with a custom downpipe from a shop?
2.5" Cat:
Magnaflow Hi Flow $66 Magnaflow Hi Flow $66

2.5" Muffler: Borla Pro XS $75 *********** Is this the correct model? (offset input/output etc.)
2.5" Tail Pipe: Dynomax Tail Pipe 44171 $44

Exhauster Header: I have a 1999 and would prefer to find a solution that doesn't involve grinding (some 99 owners experience with the APN header). Any input?

Also, how many O2 sensors are needed and brand = ntk? (1 upstream cat and another downstream cat?)

Bases:
1. cat is cheap and high flow, is 2.5"
2. muffler review (stangnet.com dead thread now) stated a "mild tone" yet it had the one of highest HP gains (results at end of post)

copied dead stangnet.com review

The results in HP order:
1.Flowtech Warlock (open) 374.2 hp/ 333.1 tq
2.Bassani Real Street 373.7 hp/ 333.8 tq
3.Hooker Maxflow 373.5 hp/ 333 tq

16.Flowtech Warlock 366.3 hp / 325.3 tq
17.No muffs 365.2 hp / 330.1 tq

You can't compare those Hp gains or db's off a mustang and compare to a XJ. Fwiw on my 99 I went with a apn header (no grinding with my late model intake ) Custom 2.5" down pipe mandrel bent 2.5" hiflow cat (thunderbolt #410250 ) from mudfrog on here $40.00 2.5" magnaflow Magnapack (#10416) also from mudfrog (70.00 iirc ) 2.5" mandrel bent tailpipe from mudfrog on here. It's held up fine sounds and runs great

I also have the same muffler and cat on my YJ

If I buy a walker intermediate pipe off summit racing, will it not have the factory bend in it? I didn't think it would, it's a stupid design in my opinion

Thanks for the info, Tom.

I was able to find a Gibons GP400S-C with the ceramic coating for $275, so phase 1 is complete. Just need to gather the rest.

Default Dynomax exhaust

Ok, so I am moving from a 2003 Liberty 3.7L to a 2000 Cherokee 4.0L. I have a dynomax muffler on my liberty and was wondering if it would be ok to put it on my Cherokee? I know that the bends in the tail pipe would be different, but would be willing to go without a full tailpipe. My main concern is the back pressure difference. When I looked on dynomax's website, the pipe for the Cherokee is 2.25" in diameter and the Liberty one is 2.50" in diameter. That difference seems pretty miniscule. Any help would be appreciated. By the way, I am not a very experienced mechanic, but usually can figure things out. Thus, the above question may be ridiculous. lol

Back pressure isn't an issue. If you really wanted to put the muffler on, you would need a 2.25 to 2.50 adapter. Imo, I would just buy a cat back for the Cherokee. They are cheap and the tail pipe will fit properly. Plus, dynomax mufflers sound like crap

Do you guys have any suggestions for a deep sounding muffler on a 4.0L engine?

Sounds is 100% subject to opinion. Get a good set of headphones and spend some time on YouTube. Listen to other people's set ups and use that to help you decide. I had a flowmaster on my last one and it was deep but, sounded like a Honda civic and my 99 has a dynomax on it now. Sounds like I have a hole in my exhaust
