Sounds is 100% subject to opinion. Get a good set of headphones and spend some time on YouTube. Listen to other people's set ups and use that to help you decide. I had a flowmaster on my last one and it was deep but, sounded like a Honda civic and my 99 has a dynomax on it now. Sounds like I have a hole in my exhaust

Looking into a new exhaust system for the xj, because the old one leaks and won't pass inspection anymore...Thinking of going wither flowmaster, or a glasspack (possibly something from magnaflow)
Anyways, I was thinking of spicing up the looks at the same time...I thought about duals (yes, I know true duals can't be done), but it seems that the gas tank and heat are a problem, so my options are:
Regular exit like stock
Side exit under bumper (would this melt plastic????)
Side exit before rear tire (Would exhaust come in the back window???? I have a basically under the downpipe right now and it's not too smelly, so I figure once it's flowing through the cat it should be okay?)
And I hear side exits wreck the clear coat on wheels??
Also thinking of having a y-pipe or dual tip added near the end for a side-by-side dual outlet look...
And could I do a dual exhaust setup with exhaust tape to keep heat away from the gas tank?
Thoughts?
Concerns?
Problems with my plans?

It can be done, but it will be expensive. If you do any wheeling run the exhaust all the way back. The pipe will get smashed it you exit it before the tire. I would also really like to do this but cost is the limiting factor for me. There are videos on youtube where people have done it. They sound good!

Has anyone tried the Speed Daddy headers? Had never heard of them till I searched the web. Do they sound good? Durable? Or are they to cheap to be good?

So my cousin has a header and complete exhaust for a 97 cherokee sitting around in his garage.
I was wondering if I could put it on my 96?
By what I've seen the headers are different and won't fit. But could I get the exhaust to fit still? Maybe some slight mods to it to get correct fitment?

Tried to utilize my google search skills but couldn't come up with anything. Anyone know what brand of headers these might be? Found them on craigslist and i would like to put them on my '01 xj

After reading your post, I jumped on my computer and looked at a big picture of it. On my phone, it only shows the 4 pipes in the middle, not the two on the end. It looks kinda sketchy
