Well I got it all installed today. I seem to have exhaust leaks from every connection. Is there any option here besides taking it somewhere and having it all welded? How much does it normally run if I have to get three different connections welded?

Anybody try welding a cracked exhaust manifold? I'm guessing it's stainless, anybody know what grade of stainless?
Being that the local O'Reilly's carries a replacement I'm guessing it's pretty common, but I'd rather weld it up than pay the $180 for a new one if it'll hold up.

Hey, so I have a 96 xj. I've noticed a leaking sound coming from around the engine when im under the jeep (i was checking around the muffler i recently installed for a leak when i heard this). Any ideas on how to see where it s coming from or if it is for sure a leak (although i am almost positive there is because you can hear it at idle and smell it).

Yep, cracked manifold. I just welded mine tonight, we'll see how long it lasts...
After unsuccessfully attempting to braze it, I managed to get some decent weld on it using 3/32" stainless rod.
O'Reilly's carries a Dorman manifold with a lifetime guarantee for $190. There are others available on the 'net, but I'd rather buy it locally and my local store has them on hand so I wouldn't have to wait for it (or pay shipping).
Good luck!

Recommendation
If you want your xj to be loud and sound beautiful do a set of high flow headers with a 2½ out and put in a magnaflow high flow cat and a flowmasters 10 series muffler and your next problem will be how much feul your using because of how beautiful it sounds

I'm researching some options for my 01 XJ to replace the header/cat/exhaust. Primarily looking to clean up the stock headers, and figure I should do the whole thing and do it right.
I'm looking at this set up:
- TorqueTubes Exhaust Manifold, 4.0L (http://bankspower.com/products/show/414/103)
- Monster Exhaust, Cherokee 4.0L (http://bankspower.com/products/show/462/103)
It looks like the APN doesn't fit the 00-01's, and it's lower quality stainless (correct me if I'm wrong, just skimming the massive thread). Bank's sounds good from the few YT videos I found.
What kind of catalytic converters would you recommend with a setup like this? How much extra 2.5" tubing will I need?
Cheers

I used about 7 or 8 feet of stainless steel tubing and fabricated most of it (I am certified in machining and metel working and I know how to weld) I made it all from scratch I'm running a magnaflow high flow cat which I do recommend because the oxygen sensors and computers will pannick without it also I have a flowmaster 10 series muffler the end result complete beauty
Thanks!
