I'm looking to get a new muffler on my 99 xj. I was wanting something that will be quiter around the lower revs but then really mean around 4k.
you have any suggestions? Price isn't really an issue. So throw anything at me.
Thanks.

I really like my dynomax, not sure how loud it gets at higher revs though

if im replacing the full exhaust system with an aftermarket one, from the intake all the way back to the tail pipe. should i still go with a direct fit converter? or go with a universal one?

I wouldn't go with the flowmaster. I've heard to many reports that flowmasters do not flow as good as even a dynomax. There was a muffler that I saw that was supposed to be the best flowing muffler. I'm thinking it was a magnaflow. For what you want wouldn't a normal glass pack be good?

Okay guys i have a 01 xj that i swapped a 95 ho motor into, im using the 01 intake and going to use a 95 aftermarket header, my question is what to do with the o2 sensors, im doing some fabrication work with the piping.

I would think you need the wiring and computer from the 95 engine. Almost everything external will be different or not? If you do change everything on the 95 engine to match the 01 electronics then you will have to put the 02 sensors in somewhere so it will run properly, or not throw codes. I would just put them where they would normally be, and hope it works, but if they are designed to be after the pre cats, they may throw codes because they are getting readings out of spec. I'm not real sure on this and am looking forward to a good solid answer. Also I have heard that any ECM can be programmed pretty easily. I heard this on the TV show where the guys in Ohio restore the old mopar stuff. They took a turbo v6 and added some bigger injectors, better flowing exhaust, and programmed the computer to match it and got enough power to beat an Omni GLH in a drag race , but I suspect the GLH driver lost that race , not the car. On my intrepid the 2.7 computer adapted to the 3.5 HO engine all except for opening the intake up at around 3K. I did lock that computer out after when I installed the SKIM and the theft system but forgot to change out the key cylinder. So I'm not sure on the computer stuff, or if they are all relatively the same or not. Sorry to get off subject, can't wait to here the verdict.

Dynomax 44171 Exhaust Tail Pipe https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000CQBH8Q/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_muRpvb01XCX26

Amazon is saying that part doesn't fit my 99, that can't be right can it? Thought they were all the same.

They don't know anything. I ordered a VC gasket for a 4.0L once and got VC gasketSSS for a caddy northstar.

According to Summit, that is made for the Cherokee. Both are part number 44171. Summit is cheaper anyways, not sure about shipping charges.
