I have a stock 94 country, thinking about some upgrades, maybe a CAI as well as exhaust. I also own a 96 mustang cobra...thus the name...I'm a little weary of flowmasters on a jeep, wouldn't that be a little ricey sounding? I'm looking for a deep sound, hell, stock exhaust idle note sounds pretty good to me now. What do ya'll think?
I ordered this and it should be in arriving today. Once I get it bolted on I'll let you know what it sounds like. I went with the Magnaflow over the Flowmaster. I was debating it for a while and went with MF. I guess we will see how it sounds.

Hi everyone! I'm new to the forum. I hope I'm doing this right...sorry, at 57 I'm a dinasaur when it comes to computers, smart phones or most things electronic beyond a toaster! Having said that lets get down to business. I have a 2000 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4.0 4x4 that I have named "the money pit". I'm pretty sure most of you can understand why. I'm not particularly crazy about the vehicle but its paid for... you might say I inherited it. Its going to be my towing vehicle for a pop up camper. The exhaust system is toast. Before I start spending more money on this thing I need some advice on what to install to get the most bang for the buck. I would like to help the power and maybe even the mpg, but I don't want something you can hear coming a mile away either. A nice growl is fine, I just don't want to have ringing ears and a splitting headache after a 6 hour drive. Oh, did I mention my wife will be with me! I' ve gone online and have found many parts and systems but don't know which setup would work best. I don' t want to spend $1000 on an exhaust system for a Jeep that I have already spent more on than it will ever be worth. In other words, HELP!

or dynomax Ultra Flo SS polished http://www.dynomax.com/mufflers/ultr...ished-mufflers or Super Turbo http://www.dynomax.com/mufflers/super-turbo-mufflers.
The thrush mufflers and dynomax are made by the same company. The thrush turbo and the Dynomax super turbo are basically the same, but the thrush doesn't have the fiberglass matting for resonance deadening. They all three have a pretty mellow tone to them. I had the Dynomax Ultra Flo on my jeep when I got it and it sounded decent. Mine fell apart on me because I was pounding it to death offroad though. SO, I wouldn't recommend one for anyone who wheels their jeep, but it's a great and very affordable system for someone who doesn't trail a whole lot.
Here's an example of what the Dynomax Super Turbo sounds like:
Interior exhaust noise was almost non-existent. All I could ever hear was my intake

Thanks for the reply. Both mufflers sounded good but I'm affraid I'm way beyond just a muffler. The fact is this Jeep must not have received much up keep the first eight years of it's life and it must have been up north because there is a lot more scale and rust underneath than I'm used to seeing from a vehicle from around here. I plan on replacing everything but the manifold. I would like to get better flow for some more power to make towing a little easier. I've been looking at a Flowmaster cat and catback system. Does anybody make a mandrel bent head pipe to fit my 2000 4.0 or am I wasting my time?

Keep in mind, I'm in no-way trying to PUSH dynomax or thrush. I think flowmaster is a way better muffler and that's what I'll be going with. Just don't know what kind of budget you're working with either. The flowmaster will hold up to the abuse way better than thrush or dynomax as well unless you go with the welded series.
