ATP and APN are the same header sold under two names. I too have one that cracked after a year. Looking into replacements now, I want the banks but don't want to drop the coin.

Yeah I really wasn't planning on getting a header because I'd heard 4.0s like to crack the cheap ones, but then my manifold cracked and now i feel like I may as well upgrade since most stock aftermarket manifolds are probably gonna break too, but it's a shame to hear that these headers fail so quick.

ATP/APN are affordable headers, but they are the best you can get for the money. I had gotten one for my 89 and unfortunately could not get it to fit. It was made of pretty heavy gauge tubing. Stainless steel to boot. I read that the 321 SS that it's made of has similar strength to 440, but it's just a lot harder to polish.

Well it's good to hear they're made of nice steel I guess that's not even enough to handle the old 4.0

They only charged 30 more for it. Heddman used to make customs but they dont anymore. I wanted a long tube design for mine.

Going to look at this header tomorrow. My jeep is getting a completely new exhaust. Seller says it is a borla header, but none of the borla headers i can find match this one. Anyone have any idea of what brand it may be? Only thing i can see on it is the 1 header tube has what looks like a logo welded on it. He only wants $50 for it so if its in good shape and no cracks im going to get it. Just trying to figure out what brand it is.

I'm 90% sure that's a bank's header. Better brand than borla IMO, so go for it.

Well it is a borla header. Part number 17127. Unfortunately it has a crack, and its for a 98-99 TJ. He said he had it mounted in his 99 cherokee. Gonna try and mount and see if it works and if it does, ill try and fix and run it. Got it for $25 so im not out to much if it doesnt work.

So apologies for having a few questions. I'm a PA resident, jeep registered as well (obviously). Since it isn't Cali registered, while looking to redo the exhaust system, could i save myself some troubles by getting rid of the pre-cats and just running a high flow main cat and muffler? I'm looking to do a bit better than OEM replacement but still want it to pass without troubles as it's my daily driver and will likely be for a number of years. I want to go with a dynomax muffler, but I wasn't sure of what Cat i wanted to get. Performance Curve is offering some high-flow cats (or advertised as anyways) for not too expensive but being inexperienced with this stuff I'm not immediately putting trust in anything without solid advice. Overall I want to do a full Exhaust manifold to tip replacement when the time comes, but unsure of the best combo to do so for (slight) performance bump and legality.

How bad/where is the crack? People weld the factory manifolds all the time, I couldn't imagine why you wouldn't be able to weld the Borla.

Along the seems of the weld at the collector. Ive welded a few for customers. Only worry is that the borla header is supposed to be stainless. I budgeted for a whole exhaust including a new header so if it doesnt work out, ill either weld the factory one depending on how bad it is or just buy a new one.
