Xj exhaust
I run this system on all my xj's. 2.5 Dia all the way back. Glasspack into turbo muffler, exit front of ps rear tyre. Welded except for one clamp at the downpipe. Under 70$. Not loud, good tone. Finished, no sound clip yet. Other items to complete, clip soon. R

Ok, more info. A'zone downpipe, will fit a 2.5" adapter into the glasspack. Glasspack/ muffler joint is a straight adapter made from a 2 and a 1/2 inch tailpipe extension. The rest of the tailpipe extension can be cut to make a tailpipe out of the Turbo muffler. Glasspack #24214, muffler #17715. Install 2mrw morning, will get some pics/ sounds. R

I found that the welded on rod on the Down pipe will not fit if there is a transfer case drop present.. Obviously this makes the rod mount not lineup with the upper flange when it's all together. I will cut the rod and reweld after bolting up the pipe. Could Just cut it off and roll that way, but I want the extra support point. R

Hey,
I am thinking about upgrading exhaust from header to tailpipe. All stock and original.
2000 XJ 4.0L 136k miles
Federal Emissions (NO pre-cats), Y-pipe in their place, 2 x O2 sensors.
THOR cowl intake
62mm TB
0331 head replaced with stronger casting (brand unknown, lifetime warranty, had a trusted shop replace it 30k miles ago)
Here's what I would like, please tell me if there will be problems (Ports lining up, Intake clearance, etc)...
- Banks Revolver header (or similar) for a 98 4.0L. Not the octopus looking header for the pre-cat version.
- Front pipe for a 98 4.0L (header to cat)
- Magnaflow high flow cat
- Super 50 muffler cat back, 2.5".
I do NOT want it to sound like a ricer.
Recommendations welcome.
Thanks for reading.

I have a infatuation with spintech. My send favorite muffler is the fte or flopro twister..
The spintech 5000 did have a hint of ricer sound i found myself driving around it was also louder then i wanted.
So ive added a fte twister to the tail pipe idling noise is cut in half on the throttle the noise is deeper mellower and no ricer sound. Cruising at 2000 rpm is nearly quite.
It now sounds like a tamed down v8 but talks alittle when you get after it.
maybe still on the loud side for my tastes.
I have two 5" fte twisters on my cummins it a quite truck till the turbo lights then it
I could see trying the long twister muffler on the jeep some day instead of the spintech
sounds like the air is ripping apart from both ends of the truck.

Hey so I'm pretty well knowing when it comes to exhaust questions. So instead of making a new thread for your question post it here and I or someother people will answer it for you...or pm me if u need a question answered right now like an emergency. Other then that I'm mostly on everyday. So post up some questions. From what to look for in a new muffler. Or to troubleshooting questions. Thanks all lets see those posts
Bought a jeep from an auction and just noticed that there is rust all along the exhaust pipe. Holes through to the carpet. Thought I had a bad exaust leak but it was just the carpet burning above the muffler where the hole was the worst.
Any ideas on why this might be?
there is no rust anywhere else really. Only along exaust, so passenger floor pan
could it be a tucked exaust with no heat shield that melted away the undercoating allowing water to eat away at the metal?
is there a heat sheild that I should get?

I'm replacing my cylinder head with new in a few weeks on my XJ (2000, 4.0) and was wondering if anyone had a good American made recommendation?
Thanks!
Thanks!
