If your talking about me..no I bought 2 1/4 and extended it from the cat, bypassed where my cherry bomb used to be, and back into the stock piping. It rumbles. My friend said that when I flooded it next to him he could feel it in his chest..but its actually quiter than my turbo (INSIDE of my jeep).

I go to summit racing for muffler parts. I think the best ones are thes
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/WLK-35005/
I used these on a magnaflow muffler system and they worked pretty well.

If not there are Clip on ones you can use but I dont recommend using them.

They are welded. Search exhaust hangers and you'll see the clamp on ones

2.25 will be fine. As for sound...The piping will only make it louder.

Magnaflow has better flow and performance over flowmaster right?

I want to make my cherokee sound better(not super loud, but sounds crisp) and give it a little more HP. I've been looking at the Flowmaster kits, but, being in CA, I'm worried about passing smog. I just want to know if I'll be ok, or if there are any ways to avoid the smog issue, especially in CA and still get some improved performance and sound.

Thanks!

You guys have mentioned going out the side.... I would like to do this but am worried about going over something and crushing it? Wouldnt it be more in the way?

Anyone have pics of side exit exhaust on the xj?

theirs really no safe place for your exhaust but if you do it really tight to the body and really close to the tire (with in reason) it makes it harder to hit on side exhaust. that's what i'm gonna do on mine soon, personally i wouldn't spend to much money on exhaust for an off-road rig cause it gonna get messed up eventually and you have to replace/fix it but it all depends on how you do it what type of terrain you wheel in, and what you like, what gonna be the best for you
