I've got a long 22 in glasspack.

Does that change the sound?

It will have a smooth, good sounding tone without being too loud. I had a generic 16" glasspack before but I wanted to go louder, hence why I bought a a shorter glasspack. Since there's less length, there's also less muffling of the engine. However, it will still sound good. I've always liked the way glasspacks sound on a Jeep.

Any experience with a FlowTech Raptor Turbo muffler? They are cheap. And look like a stock muffler....not that it matters. Just curious. Thanks.

From my understanding and reading online!
Magnaflow own Thrush...Thrush is their cheaper version pretty much..Magnaflow is bettery quality & has a better warranty! But pretty much the same muffler..I'd always choose magnaflow though, but thrush isn't bad either...sound really depends on the size & shape & placement of the muffler!
Also Thrush is a rolled edge muffler I believe..they just roll the edges and crimp them..Magnaflows are the same except magnaflow welds the edges so theres no leaks! With the rolled & crimped edge, it'll leak & build rust there eventually! Magnaflow just being the higher quality here...go with the flow

The cherrybombs I never looked into but I know they are SMALL, and always round. Same for the purple hornies..Yes you can get them bigger & yes that'll help some but either way your gonna get the same eventual sound...loud & harsh & raspy!
Magnaflows/Thursh can be had in ovals, dual in/outs...they are true mufflers! Magnaflow offers like 4 or 5 different types of mufflers, from stock replacement, to glasspacks!
The difference here is that your cherrybomb will always be loud, while the magnaflow is only loud when you want it to be, the cherrybomb is a glasspack while the magnaflow is only partially one...it still is a muffler & can still be quiet if you keep of the skinny pedal!
I could write up a whole page for you on how they are made and everything..Alot of it is due to how they are made!

Now my muffler can/can't be called a glasspack..Its called a Magnapack/XL muffler..both pretty much the same, except the Magnapack is a little louder/meaner sounding! They are 6-7" round mufflers and vary in length! If your after a slightly louder exhaust than mine then you want a Magnapack! Yes they cost around 100-125 but you get a lifetime warranty, and a great free flowing muffler!
Cherrybombs give off a raspy, crackley sound..while the maganflow offers a smooth & deep sound..both will get louder as they age because the fiberglass starts to wear out! Magnaflows can be repacked if you want, or you can leave it alone! They are never too loud once the packing wears out..
And they don't have the annoying drone the flowmasters do..flowmasters being a chambered muffler, they will always drone at a certain point...most get that drone around 2000-2500rpm which is your cruising RPM. It gets annoying after a while!

Theres also Areoturbine! Great mufflers, same concept as magnaflow, they use a different packing material, and the make them so it twist the exhaust around in the muffler...Great mufflers but I never tryed them, and since they have a chamber of sorts to twist exhaust around..I just left them alone, I stayed with the tryed & true straight through!

EDIT: What I run is called a XL muffler. Go to magnaflow.com and check then out! I don't run their glasspack series..I run the XL muffler...just so everyone is clear & theres no confusion.
The part number for my muffler is "magnaflow 12646"

I looked at a few aftermarket OE style manifolds and newer designs such as an ATP exhaust manifold ... description shows Improved Aftermarket "Challenge Y" Design Collector ... ?

The cross-over pipe was once repaired .. there is a sharp ~90 deg bend near the bottom where it starts to cross

The cat and o2 sensors and muffler were replaced some 2 to 3 years ago ... After the previous muffler was split near the bottom it was replaced with a sturdier stainless steel high flow type.

I am thinking of redoing the entire exhaust and keeping parts that will work .. but am uncertain of going to 2.5 inch tubing ...

Once in a long while, the PCM throws a P0420, (usually at low engine rpms under 750 ...)

Gas mileage could be improved ... poor fuel economy can sometimes be exhaust related.

____ as for the P0420 code ...

Mode 6 non-continuous monitors show test $11 and $21 failed ..

Test ID: $11* O2-S1-B1 failed
Test ID:* = $ 21 ( Catalyst sensor has 1 to 1 switch ratio) failed

Apparently the upstream monitor is having some difficulty with half cycles tests ... i.e. testing for the sensor’s switching from threshold voltage rate. (frequency) ... which may be effecting the cat monitor ... comparing the downstream sensor’s frequency to the upstream sensor ..

If you wanna check for leaks..grab a can a seafoam..suck 1/3 of it SLOWLY through the brake booster vacuum line and let it sit for a few.
Start it watch for smoke...when you find the leak then your there ya go...if no leaks then come back and I'll help ya figure it out!
Plus the seafoam will clean up the motor some..its a win win situation lol

Sorry Gee but I have to...This is false..bikes pollute more than cars!
Mythbusters just did a whole episode for this last week it was fun to watch but bikes pollute more than cars...kind of odd to me? But probably because cars have so much emmissions stuff!
The congestion part I agree!

I saw some of that episode and thought it was very interesting. I was always under the impression that bikes were less harmful to the environment, but either way I will ride my motorcycle until there is no more gas left on the planet or no more atmosphere; whichever comes first.

4" tip might look a little silly. Too close to a fart can size for my liking haha.

Got a few videos for you guys..but they aren't good in anyway.

Camera doesn't pick up the sound very well..sound overpowers the mic lol.

USMC heres a few links if your interested in those magnaflows.

This one will sound nice.

Edit: this is exactly how mine sounds, except a little bit deeper...probably because he runs a tip & tailpipe while I only run a dump!
This is what my exhaust sounds like..almost perfect match!
