Noticed a little while back i have an exhaust leak at the flange on the front of the cat. Upon further inspection the flange is pretty much rusted away, therefore i can't tighten down on it. Can i get an exhaust shop to weld on new flanges or am i going to have to get a new cat? Is it ok to leave it like that for a while (schedule's tight right now)?

Stupid question but ive always wondered.
If you dumb exhaust under the cab with a turn down when your jeep is under water (while its running) does that make it harder on the exhaust to push the water? Ive always ran it out to the side figured it would be better for it maybe its just me?

No your exhaust has enough pressure to keep water out...how ever if your engine dies water will rush in...its like that where ever you put that

It pulses, ever heat like a v-8 through say a flowmaster rev it high and let off.... you hear the bubble and kind of low pops.... its reversion.... the pulses cause a vacuum of sorts. Good to keep a nice steady pace

Hey there, few questions for all you exhaust guys. Most of my exhaust brackets have rusted away into nothingness. I also suspect that my cat might be bad, and I hate the giant muffler that's on it and makes it so quiet. Anyways, I'm gonna be testing with a temp gun to see if my cat is bad. If it is I think i'm gonna replace the whole damn exhaust. So, what diameter pipe should In use? Are thrush glasspacks any good? What can I expect to spend on the cat and how on earth do o2 sensors mount on the universal ones?
P.S. I have a welder so I can fabricate brackets etc and put it all together, I just have no friggen clue what to buy. Trying to do it cheap, btw.

Just food for thought, looks like everyone is asking about Flowmaster and Magnaflow, but I put a Gibson cat back on my 98 xj and it has been great. Has a nice sound to it at low RPM's but pretty darn quiet at freeway speeds. The noise from my mud terrains are louder. It breathes really well and have been pleased with the money I spent. Can talk on your phone and have a conversation with others in your jeep and no drone.

Anyone have experience with the Flowtech Warlock mufflers? Just under $100 or so shipped I have found. But I really like the fact that you can open them up to straight pipe when your off road. Any experience? Do you think straight pipe would hurt he performance with it being a lot less back pressure? I guy I work with seems to think so. But I'm not sure....right now I have a 2.5 inch high flow cat on and a stock muffler. I want to run 2.5 inch pipe from the cat to the warlock muffler and out past the bumper in the stock location. Good muffler?

I don't know of that muffler but will tell you the Magnaflow is virtually straight through with a perforated core. You can see straight through it and its not obnoxiously loud.
Yeah, regardless of what muffler (or not) running the tailpipe out past the rear bumper calms the sound down inside and out.
Lack of backpressure isn't an issue with FI.

Thanks for the info. I thought I read on here somewhere that the lack off back pressure won't do a thing. I think I'm going to buy it real soon. Seems like a good muffler. I just like the idea of making it scream off road. With out paying $300 plus on an electric actuator on the exhaust somewhere. I don't mind getting under my jeep and removing the cap on the muffler to go straight pipe.

I believe that is a chambered muffler? Should be similar to flowmaster.
