My dad's buddy's got a CJ that he had built for himself... I really liked the exhaust note so I asked him what the exhaust was and if it had the cat. He swore that it did, "It's all legal." His wife needed a jump the other week and I had to crawl under it to put chocks under the wheels to run it in neutral and noticed that the exhaust went Header-Intermediate-muffler.

He still doesn't know

The outlet of the muffler and the turndown are both probably 2.5id right? One needs to be 2.5id and one needs to be 2.5od.

Emission controls are mandated by the federal government. Each state may or may not test depending on what year it is, but it's still illegal and getting caught is a serious deal.

Not trying to be a dick, just giving y'all a heads up before the moderator warns you about it...

I've seen it done before on newer XJs, don't know why you couldn't on a 95

Also, does anyone out there know how long of an extension pipe I would need if I mounted a Flowmaster Super 40? I'm too lazy and stupid to go outside, measure it, and do the math...besides, it's dark out and I can't find my Maglite

Its possible but you need a lot of custom bent pipe, time and money.

Local shop quoted me $400 to do this, that's me already having the muffler. If you're putting sound above money though, Dual outlet 4.0's sound like God.
