That's a matter of opinion... I've had glass packs on all of my 4.0s and they have never sounded rice-beaner mobile-ish. I had an 18-inch generic gp on my '88 and it sounded good without being overly loud, then I put an 8-inch Cherry Bomb on it and it's loud but still has an aggressive sound. My wife's '96 has a generic 12-inch gp and it too is aggressive. NONE of the glass packs I have ran sounded like a mexi-mobile. My friends V8 ZJ had a gp and it sounded sweet. Then he went to a FM and wished he had keep the gp. But, these are all a matter of opinion. Your best bet is to have your muffler shop hold up your choices of mufflers up to the open exhaust while the Jeep is running so you can get a feel for how each sound, in person. YouTube doesn't do any of the sounds any justice, imo.

X2

I have a glasspack. It sounds nowhere near 'ricey'.

And can I know of at least one guy who said the same thing as you. Then he heard mine and could make a real decision, not one based off of youtube vids.

It's preference. Personally, I'm planning on a Super44 Off-Road when I do mine. I like the durability aspect, but glasspacks could be replaced for low cost if damaged. The sounds are different, but one isn't necessarily better than another.

I like ny glasspack because it has literally no flat surface to get caught on ANYTHING.

I had a stocker before my current setup. Ripped it off a few times because the face caught something.

As you can see from my sig, I don't like cats and mufflers...

Glasspack is definitely the way to go! I love mine and allows for an exhaust tuck like mine.
First is the system and second is level with the "frame" rail
Solid like 4-5 inches up

My dad's 96 has a big cherry bomp and it sound like a rice burner at rpms under 3500. Over that it sounds pretty good. It also takes on a really bad drone above 2500rpms. Mine on the other hand is an 18" generic dumped at the rear axle. I love the sound but I'm most likely putting an APN header on so the whole exhaust will be redone with a super 10 . My dad's runs all the way back and drones worse than mine btw. Neither have cats for now.

Careful, I don't have a problem with it but this is against forum rules.

Maybe we should drop the subject instead of talking about not talking about it?
