Default Alternator splash/mud shield?

Im debating whether I want to do the relocation mod on the Alt. Or just fab up a shield. I dont do much mud, but I think a shield would work okay too. Has anyone here fabbed one or seen one?

Great idea, I think I'll be playing with a piece of sheet metal this weekend and see what I can do.

I haven't seen one yet but if my a/c compressor is still good after my buddy takes a look at it I'll trim a piece of stainless and throw it on the break at work. By the way op how about updating your fab thread with pics?

I saw a thread before where someone posted pics of a sheet metal shield. They said it works for them. The stock front skid also helps keep water out. Your best bet is to relocate the alternator if you plan to go in a lot of mud or deep water.

I've lost plenty of alternators due to mud/water, I keep a jug of distilled water to clean them with now, and always keep a spare on hand.

Im gonna be making one soon. Im gonna fold mine like a (A) so the water splashed won't sit inside the splash guard and rust it out. It'll just run off. And you can't drill holes in the bottom cause that will defeat the purpose.

You cant make it completely air tight or it will over heat... best bet is to go to your local auto-parts store and buy one with a warrenty

Napa will no longer honor my alternator warranty after the 3rd return in 2 weeks.

Mine has a lifetime warranty, but that won't help much if it dies on the trail. I saw another post around here where someone made a splash guard. Now that I have a snorkel, I'm definitely looking into one.
