Default Best bang for your buck upgraded headlight harness

So I'm looking to tinker of the ol xj this weekend and I've decided I'm going to upgrade the headlights and upgrade the harness. I've looked at the putco ones for around $40-$50. What are your thoughts on that? Is there a cheaper alternative that just as good? Would like to hear your guy's thoughts. Thanks

Putco is good, but Ive been running this one for a few years on my 2000. It has been doing great.

Putco harness is decent quality and super easy install. The relays that come with it are garbage, but the wiring itself is done nicely.

There are some others out there, but best bang for your buck would be make it yourself.

Just bought this one myself. Am going to install on Friday. It looks to be pretty good quality. I will be happy to update after I've ran it for a while.

I just installed the Putco harness and I'm quite happy with it.

The difference is incredible...especially for the $40

Install took about 40 min for me (not a pro mechanic but I've been wrenching on cars and machines since childhood)

Most important thing to do is properly ground the wires. If not done right, the headlights will not turn on.

I followed these steps and never looked back. Best upgrade by far. Started with sylvania and there was a huge improvement. Then upgraded to H4 housings and use higher power bulbs. No ragrets!

$21 & its NOT yellow. Good deal. I paid $20 or 25 for my Putco harness a few years back. $40 is a little high, especially since folks are complaining about the relays being garbage.

Yeah I think I paid about $30 for my Putco on the 95 a long time ago. Only had one relay go out. But I think that was due too bad ground at the relay. Replaced it and it has been doing great.
The Ebay one I put on the 2000. Has been good coming up on three years soon no problems..and yes not yellow..lol
