Bilstein shock question?
My jeep has a 4.5 inch lift and I want to get rid of the Rough Country shocks that I have. I was wanting to buy the Bilstein 5100s but the lift sized for the shocks are from 3-4" and 5-6" but my lift if 4.5" so im not sure what size I should get and when I called Bilstein they couldnt tell me. Does it matter that much or should I go with another brand like OME or Fox since they have shocks that fit my lift size?

I can't see 1/2" extra length over a 4" lift shock being an issue. But I could see one for a 6" lift bottoming out without having extended bump stops.

I just switched from bilsteins to OME shocks on the front of my 4.5” lifted XJ. The OME’s ride so much better it’s unbelievable. I’d get the OME shocks for that reason alone IMO. You should measure for your shocks by flexing your rig out no matter what brand you get. If you do buy OME shocks, remember they do not work with BPE’s.

Why not ?
I can see them not working with the bayonet mount eliminator....but bar pin or bar pin eliminator....they are the same mounting method.

Basically, the bar pin can’t be removed from the shock. Most of the BPE kits state that they can’t be used with OME shocks. I discovered this after ordering unfortunately. Not that I wouldn’t buy OME’s again, I’d have chosen the longer version though.
