My buddy actually had a 1.5 gallon tank that I ended up using and it makes a huge difference, I ended up storing it under the hood so no room was really sacrificed, and I hear ya on the vice grips my lift struts don't want to lift the hatch all the way in the cold weather!

Wheeling isnt for pussies. We go out to break it not drive ours back to use it as a grocery getter. Some of us have "air" lockers, some of us have mechanical lockers and most of us have electrical lockers, so the "occassional locker" is meant for your grocery getter.
I understand getting things done quicker and kinking an exhaust is a pain in the a##, but we install our parts with no AIR. Air is a convenience, takes up a lot of space and is expensive.

Not to stole this thread!
I'm also planning to convert the AC compressor to OBA, I got an air/hidrahulic jack that kick ***, it can be used manually by using the lever, or by applying compressed air (which make it really easy to lift the jeep)
My point is that I think for this kind of use it will be always better to have a little tank, and also some kind of shut off mechanism for the compressor not to blow any hose due to pressure build up

What kind of jack? I too wanted to use a air/ hydro jack it would come in handy! And for the whole shut off mechanism you speak of you would use a pressure cutoff switch and a relief valve for added safety and for some reason my photo didn't upload I will try again tomorrow but I am running a little 1.5-2 gallon tank at 115psi but I love bein able to use my 1/2 impact anywhere I want no more big tire iron!!!
Can be used manually if the air system fails

Do you have sliders OP? A buddy of mine drilled a hole into his slider(s), and tapped it out, and screwed a fitting into it. Uses the sliders as tanks. He pumps both sliders up to about 150PSI. Holds about 4 gallons between the two of them - and it takes up no extra room!

I was going to use harbor freights 12 ton air/manual jack, I figured the 12 ton would have a faster lift time than the 20 ton does that sound right? If not I'll get the 20 ton what do you think
