there are basically four types of O2 sensors, heated and not heated, wideband and narrow band of each. On our jeeps, there are only two types available since they are all narrowband. IF you have 4, then the three before the cat are the same and the 1 after is different. ask him how many wires each has. If there is a difference, the ones with 3 wires are before the cat

Plus that picture you posted is not for an inline 6 cylinder engine. We only have one exhaust manifold because the cylinders are in line, as opposed to two banks of 3 or 4 cylinders each (like on a Vx motor, like in the pic you posted).

My 2000 XJ is about to get all new O2 sensors. I have four of them, and 3 catalytic converters. The exhaust manifold is 2 pieces (one for cylinders 1 thru 3 and one for cylinders 4 thru 6) with its own precat. So, each manifold has 2 O2 sensors, one for before and after each cat. I'm about to replace all of them also and found them on amazon ranging from $30 to $50 a piece. They all had different part numbers, but the description indicated where each one went, i.e. front manifold upstream of the cat. If anyone else has bought these O2 sensors from amazon, please let me know if this is correct. Heres a link to the part search: .

Well that's just craziness then. The Liberty's might look like that, cause they got the minivan v6....but ours are inline, so that diagram is wrong.
My 2000 XJ has the 2 pre-cats just off the manifold, so I actually have 4 o2 sensors...one before each pre-cat (upstreams) and one after (the downstream).
