Did 4.10 ever come from factory 97-01 in HPD30 and 8.25s? Found a guy selling a the pair. He doesn't know if it's 27 or 29 spline 8.25 though. Currently have the same setup w/ 3.55.

I needed the trans, and wanted the axles....but the trans had some issues I couldn't verify, so I passed.
And as far as the speedo being corrected by a combo of gearing & tires......my 96 has had nothing done to it as far as the speedo gear, but with 31" tires, it now reads off by 2 mph @ 60 by GPS.
The factory speedo was off by a good bit, which explains why I thought I had such good gas mileage.

8.25 29 spline came out in late 96 and up and early 96 and before were 27 splines both strong axles

Okay so I was just looking at doing this today what's a good brand for a good price and how much do shop charge to do it I'm scaredoing to mess up and waste alot of money

Here in SW, MO. I paid $200 each to install gears and lockers that I supplied at the time Rustys had the best price on Motive gears (same as I used in my race cars for years high HP w/transbrake) for under $500 including master install kits very good ones and all of them are not equal. They also installed an SYE for $250 99XJ D30 Chy 8.25 29 spline.
All work was done at a Jeep 4x4 Shop and old one.

Labor rates in my area are very reasonable for many things, even dealerships Hr. rates are lower than in larger cities in the state. I had to have some AC work done in Key West several yrs. ago on my Motor Home I found out about FL. labor rates then.
For your area that isn't a bad price either for $250 in 2017.

So I'm just curious... most everyone recommends going with 4.56's and 33's, even for lots of DD and Highway use. Based on the math, that's a little bit of over gearing. So just curious why people don't recommend 4.10's for 33's instead.

Majority of folks go with the lower set for a few reasons. Mainly because by that lift height and tire size, you've added heavy bumpers and accessories making the rig heavier. So the added "umph" helps push your rig along easier.

I already decided on 4.56's for my 33's a while back, but I'm thinking possible 35's. I think that's still a good middle ground for both sizes considering my XJ see's plenty of highway miles. Plus if I decide against 35's, I'll have that nice "umph" on the 33's.
