Question Is a cold air intake worth it?

I've been scheming at one, but is it worth? Would an intake bypass valve be sufficient to protect me from hydro locking? I'd like to eventually get a snorkel on my xj, but I feel like the cold air intake is too exposed, is it possible to fashion the stock cabin to fit the intake and better protect it from water?

Are you going to install it correctly first off? If you are just going to install it under the hood what is the point? I would do the cowl snorkel. There are great write ups on here about them.

The cowl snorkel seems like a lot of rigging, but yea I'd install it the right way. But your right seems counterproductive to install it under the hood.
