Default cracked head or head gasket?

Alright I have a 89 comanche, it over heats, has new radiator and they guy I bought it off of says he put waterpump in it, I have a totaled 94 cherokee, can I use that head, but keep the renix intake and injection system, or will this just be a headache for the rest of its jeep life?

I would jump to replacing the head because its overheating. Is the water pump actually new? Is the rad actually new? what about the thermostat and flushing the system out? Or testing the clutch fan

Well radiator is definetly new, really don't think its the thermostate cuz it seems to be circulating fine, water is going somewhere, smokes out the exhaust (kinda like steam) so that's why I narrowed it down to this

I belive he means would not jump.. but he is very true. Check the main things first. Put a 160 degree t stat in see wat it does.

When my head was cracked, I ran the vehicle with no coolant in the system while debugging and the cooling system would pressurize. Plus the vehicle would overheat in a few minutes while idling from cold.

Should not need 160a degree stat, im am going to replace it, but just with factory one, it ran fine from factory so should be fine with whatever is factory, which I think is 195 degree, im just bored here at work, and thought id get some opinions, if a ho head will work with the older motor and renix injection stuff, it gets good mpg's so I do not want to put h.o. injection and manifold things on it

Look I been driving these jeeps for years now, I've had 2 98 cherokees, a 97, and best I got out of them was 16-17, still have a 87 comanche 4x4 and get 20mpg normal driving, then driving to ocean I get 23mpg, I just got this 89 because it has ac, and its 2wd, new paint, the guy was selling it cuz it was overheating, but I only paid 500$

Is it a manual? My 95 HO got 20-23 stock with the 5 speed, but now i get 16-18 with 33's. There is a big difference between a slush box and a straight drive. But anyways, you might want to confirm this but I dont believe the ports on the renix head are the same for the HO head which means the renix intake and exhaust will fit correctly on the HO head. Also the open cooling system of 91+ jeeps are more headache free than the renix

Yeah, I figure they are, I was trying to buy this thing and fix it to turn around and make a few bucks on it, but the junkyard I got to charges 40$ for a head, so far I got 700 in it, that's counting taxes and gas too trailer it home, don't wanna spend to much more, I figure new head and head gasket should fix the problem, that's after I try thermostat, and check the water pump, but I also enjoy messing with this stuff too, so its kinda one of my hobbys, it doesn't help that all I had is the idiot lights too,
