cupholders and center console
alright guys, lunch everyday is killin me cause i don't have cupholders yet. i know the new "box" style XJs came with cupholders and the older style didn't. Me bein cursed i have a 96 XJ with no cupholders andi often get large sized drinks from fast food. But anyhow, how does everyone have cupholders in their XJs and could a newer style XJ console (that came with cupholders) bolt right up in an older style XJ or is that parking brake handle an issue?

The 96 came stock with a cupholder that attaches to side of console. They are hard to find.
Also there is an aftermarket holder that attaches to center console box and sits over rear of e-brake.
Others have used PVC pipe inside console box, or drilled through lid.
The grand cherokee has a lid that has cupholders. It's a bit larger than the XJ console box, and bolts on.

I have the same one and it works great! You can still use the e-brake just fine, its a little hard to get used to at first but over all I'd recommend it to anyone with an xj. I can post some pics or make a video of it tomorrow if you'd like?

I also have that one that goes oVER the ebrake. I got rid of it quick. The brake lever is still usable but on mine for example I would have had to cut the opening of the cup holder unit more because the lever wouldn't go up all the way with the cup holder on it. Also some probably wouldn't mind it but only having a few inches of brake lever exposed to grab annoyed me. And to top it all off the cup holes themeselves are small no way you'll get a good size cup in there. Looks like it was designed for a small sized coffee in the mornings.
