Diy floor pans.

It's not through yet. I was thinking about using some epoxy on it then sanding it smooth then spraying it but didn't know if it would work

Alright. I've done a lot of body work and just replaced my floor pans.. All im going to say is if you want a nightmare in the near future... Just cover the rust up. If you want to do it half way right.. Take a grinder and get the metal CLEAN with no rust and then cover it. If you want to do a long lasting correct way. Replace the pans then bedline it.

Yes. It's a unibody, once that rust starts, it's going to spread and get worse. Either remove all the rust or prepare for it to eventually spread. You could try something like POR15 if you're really against replacing floor pans

mine has never once seen mud and deep water .. Look at my build thread and you'll see my whole front pans were GONE down to the frame rail. Cherokees love to rust .. We're just trying to save you a lot of time and money in the future. Do it right the first time

key word ... "Try" I will admit por 15 is good stuff.. But why cover the rust up and know in the back of your head the floors are rusty? And when are they finally going to go? It happens faster than you think

If you read the whole thing, I only advised him to try it if he was completely against replacing the pans. Imo, I would just replace them.

I wasn't disagreeing with you, I was just stating his best option! You are right about the por 15 but it doesn't last that terribly long

My experience with POR15 is that, when applied properly, it lasts a really long time but, it won't stop the rust from spreading. It just stops the current rust from getting worse in the area you applied it to. Regardless, you were spot on that replacing the rusted parts is the long term solution.
