Default Engine Mount Melting

I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions on a problem I'm having. The driver side engine mount is too close to the headers and the rubber part is starting to melt. Is there any way to keep this from happening? I bought a new engine mount but I don't want to put it in till I can prevent this one from melting

99 cherokee I6 4.0 sport

Thanks!

Put some reflective heat shield material over the motor mount to keep radiant heat off it.

Yep. You could fab up something out of light aluminum. Keep it away from the motor mount. You want it to block the radiant heat, and allow air to flow behind it.

You can send the header out to be ceramic coated.A lot of big cities have a place so look local.Or you can use exhaust wrap on the header.

Why is it melting would be my question? It's not designed to so what changed to make it happen?

I had an aftermarket poly motor mount that melted, drivers side. Replaced with stock rubber, no issues.

Things like this are why i always spend the money for ceramic coated headers. Most v8s bare steel headers can melt spark plug wires,And with the xjs 4.0 the header is close to the motor mount so i can see it getting hot enough to melt it.

A piece of light gauge metal...............make a shield for the mount itself.
