The GM cars got a fairly major gain in boost and HP from swapping the 69mm TBs to 75mm. The stock-bore supercharger housings have 72mm inlets. At home porting can easily take them to 75mm. This got me thinking... I need to find a 75mm TB that will work with the jeeps throttle cable, kick down cable, TPS and IAC. Then build an adapter plate to mount that TB to the supercharger. I bet it will make more boost than we would expect.
Another first post TJ guy, usually I'm on jeepforum but this seems to be "the place" for this kit. I did a mess of forum reading and now might have something worthwhile to add.

I've got a kit on the way from Rick, planning to get the bugs out with a 60mm straight bore tb, then try a 75mm... I'm not good at leaving things alone.

Turns out the same n* tb the 3800 guys use may work for us...

The n* tps output is within range of jeep... I wired it in and got .67v idle, 4.7v WOT. Spec from my research says .25-.95 idle, less than 4.8v WOT. When I had it wired up and idling I had no codes thrown, so I feel pretty good about that.

The jeep iac bolts to the n*, just slot one hole and use the valve head from the n* on the jeep IAC. Its glued in on the n* and will self tap itself to the jeep.

The 96-99 is flanged and slightly shorter than the jeep tb, so it should make install in a TJ easier.

The throttle throw direction is the same as jeep, you'll just need to weld whatever arms you need to the n*. Mine is a manual so I just had to weld a ball on.

And then of course a chunk of aluminum for an adapter... haha. I tried to get a gasket to use as a template but there arent any available locally. I'll be making my own as soon as I get a template. Might be able to use the same one the 3800 guys do if its thick enough to add the injector to...?

Another techish note, I made my own standalone charge temp gauge using a 100-250 autometer oil temp gauge and a fast acting gm iat sensor(cut the gauge open and pasted "charge air" on it, haha) Checked cal of it with a meat thermometer in water and it appears to be within 10f... should be good enough to track nicely for a charge air gauge.

Looking forward to joining you guys with a supercharged 4.0's soon!

Edit: also the n* tb's are cheap... I got a pretty clean one for $28 shipped on ebay

Cool idea and being a gearhead I was immediately interested. But really, my jeep is for wheeling and the 4.0 and 4.88's is more than enough power.

Never enough!

What is the N* throttle body?

We have a 70mm on the Sprintex SC, 62mm on the M62.

Default Detonation kills engines!

Just got done reading this thread and there is some great info here.

I have a magnum powers SC installed on my 2004 TJ, and its currently running around 12lbs of boost with just an intercooler. The tune was not quite right and was having some pinging.

Well the first thing to go was my headgasket and after i replaced that, the pistons went bad.

For those of you interested in moving up to more boost, be sure to take the extra precautions so that you dont end up with something that looks like the attached pictures.

Im in the process of a rebuild including new forged pistons and some other enhancements to get back on the road.

The tune is sooo important. Wideband A/F guage is a must. Must have adequate fuel and timing retard when under boost. MUST be in 'open loop' when in boost.

Finally wired up an iat gauge, but it's only been 10-20* temps here for around two weeks. I'm only seeing 40-70iat while driving normal an 75-125 at wot. Also with lower air temps outside I'm now seeing 9.5 psi boost wot. I think my exhaust is restrictive though sounds like a damn jet vacuum out the muffler at wot lol

9.5 pounds boost out of a supercharger that some say is 'too small'. That's great.

105* over ambient at WOT 9.5 pounds is GREAT! 125* Charge Air Temps!!
The power of chemical/liquid intercooling of the 7th injector.

BBuchta: so a M90 supercharger will definitely not work with this kit right?

M90 is too big. But anything is always possible.

Here is the XJ M62 Side Mount--

I like this kit. I've told about five people about it and one already bought it. LOL
