Default Folding down tail gate (party)

Anybody ever built a tail gate that would go down when the hatch is open?

Im just looking for ideas.

I want something that would be flush against the rear hatch and once the hatch is open, I could bring it down and I want this strong enough for 3 people to sit and watch the show without getting wet. Or a nice solid work bench.

Any ideas? I can fabricate anything I want but I need a good plan before I start building.

WAY to weird you post this, my brother n law were literally just talking about that, and I went to search and found nothing. Now here you are!!! ironic. What I had in mind was possibly swapping a gladiator or commanche tailgate on it and have the emblem?

I've thought about doing something like this so I can camp out of the back of it.I had the idea to use my hitch & make support for the "gate" part.

I want to keep the factory lift gate. The folding down would be inside flush against the hatch.
Was thinking of using the plastic on the inside as a guide to make the metal frame.

It would be great when the back is full of groceries and the hatch opens and nothing falls out (I am an agresive driver )

yeah.. I like that.

Now a way to make it come down and have it flush with the "lip" not higher.

A weird kind of hinges or something.
something like this without the cables

Ah gotcha, that would be a little easier project to tackle then what I'm visioning. I thought of cutting the factory one below the window so it'll still rise and mounting a tailgate so it'll come down, find a way to seal it. What about something on rails that will slide out and drop on the hitch assembly would be handy?
