understood but is that the only issue? i mean its frequently driven but its also a enjoyment vehicle for me so the price of gas isnt really a issue to me i mean i would rather have a more capable trail rig then save a few bucks at the pump and honestly i dont see less than 200 rpms making all that big of a difference ...i mean the mpgs already suck, im sure it will be worse with gears so how much worse could 200 rpms at cruising speed make it.....serious im not saying your wrong and i do appreciate the help just lost on this whole subject matter and have been....no one have a set in stone answer or some hardcore info to sway me in one direction or the other so im having a VERY hard time deciding

Compare the RPM's in all gears both 4high and 4lo as well as 2hi and you'll see that 4.56 is your best option.

4.56 4.88

70mph 2438rpm 2609rpm
75mph 2612rpm 2795rpm

so i guess my next question is if its less than 200 rpms different does it really matter? does that 200 rpm make that big off a difference at cruising speed on the highway? i mean it seems like for the few more bucks i should just go with the 4.88s and not have to ever worry about re-gearing if that time ever comes???? unless i did the calculations wrong or theres something i dont know about that extra 200 rpm at cruising speed.....anyone willing to shed some light or tell me if the rpms i posted are about right?.....and again thanks in advanced, Gary
refer back my first post. got a coin laying around?

Either set will work just fine. You seem like you want someone to tell you x gears are better than y gears. It won't happen. It's personal preference. Like asking which is better Chevy or Ford. Of course it is Ford, but you will have just as many say cheby.

Flip a coin make a choice and never look back

maybe you can decide on this note...

if you live in a really hill stricken area....then i would do 4.88s
if not and mainly flat like my area;...then 4.56s.

now after reading this and doin the gear calculation; i'm kinda leaning on the 4.88 side. almost all my driving is city and back roads. so 45-60 is my normal. now. even when i went on the highway i didn't go over 65. 200 rpm is nothing.
