How dangerous? Like burn the Jeep to the ground dangerous? Everything I read along with the experience I've had with the one in my MJ, although only about 6 mo., seems good.
I got my last Putco harness from these guys. They seem legit. It didn't look any different than my older one.

I converted my Putco harness to use fuses (rather than fusible link) and Bosch-style relays. I used 40/30 amp relays, a 10-amp fuse for low beams and 20-amp fuse for high. I'm running 55/100 bulbs.

WunHungLo lmao!!
I have been selling these for almost three years here on the forums.

I have never had one returned, they seem to hold up very well. I do not have any experience with the Putco but have had guys complain about the relays going prematurley.

Wow..Nice harness.. Looks well made..also USA baby..lol good price..
The relays on the Putco need a good ground. Most people having the relay issue is do to not having good clean ground.
Do the mounts on the relays need to be grounded to metal with your harness..or dont matter?
WunHungLo..Cruiser taught me that..He is a bad influence on me..lol

Alright, 20 amp relays should be fine, and 10 amp fuses for each light
EDIT: For each relay, i.e each relay runs both lights. (High beam relay and low beam relay run both driver and passenger side). Didn't add it in the diagram, but you get the idea.
To explain for anyone looking in the future, I made a small diagram. NOTE: I chose to leave the factory headlight plug in tact and use an adapter to H4 so that I can use either bulb type.
Factory plug left in tact and adapter used so can easily switch between bulb types

Those are chinese made and I get them in bulk for a good price and pass them on at a good price with free shipping as an alternative to the Putco which is twice as much and have heard a lot of bad stories about the relays.
Not trying to mislead anyone. Just trying to give us an alternative. I run them on both of mu XJ's and have never had an issue.

You said 10-amp fuses for each light.... Are you not going to run both lights off each fuse, one fuse for low beam and one for high? You're probably going to want more than a 10-amp fuse for 2 high beam H4 headlights @60W for some overhead. I'm not sure why you would want a fuse for each headlight.

OK, that's what I gathered from your diagram, but your description confused me.
You're probably going to want slightly higher than a 10 amp fuse to run 2 60-watt high beams. You will have zero overhead at 120 watts. Fuses are in circuit to protect wiring, and the wiring you use should take a lot more than 10 amps, especially if you will be considering going to a higher wattage H4 in the future.
