The instructions with the Bushwacker flat flares will tell you how much you need to trim and how they mount. Just make sure you don't trim to much or you will have to make some custom brackets to keep the inner fenders mounted.

I installed flat flares. My inner fenders were so brittle they just fell apart when we took stock flares off. Got a new set from RockAuto for $30 delivered. they worked great. do not trim them until after flare mount is fitted. mine tucked in behind flare perfect.

I've heard some guys use a couple of those " pool noodles" stuffed in the gap near the hinge. Salt water still may seep around but less of it.

I used pipe insulation which is just about the same as the noodles. Works okay for what it is. I pull the insulation and wash inside the fender well and put them back. The inner fenders were gone and fenders trimmed a lot when I bought my XJ so I had to improvise.

Just picked up my XJ without the inner fender flares. There is mud and crap everywhere in the hinge area and floor. I need to get this thing ready for winter. Anyone else got any ideas on what to line the fenders with? I have been unable to locate any fender liners used. Hoping I can find something at the local hardware store to live them with.. Need some suggestions to keep the snow and ice out..

I know I'm answering to a thread that was just brought up from 5 years ago.

Try this link.
https://www.morris4x4center.com/jeep...nder_liner.htm (Currently $35.00). You might have to call them to see if the other side is available. Take note that it is made by Crown, you might have to search another website.

Google & eBay search the key words. With almost 3 million XJ's produced, I'm sure every XJ, if not most every XJ got fender liners.
- fender liners.
- splash shield.
- wheel well liners.

Hey thanks for the response. I never understood why there are people who have to bring up the age of the post before they respond. I know you did because someone will flame you for it if you didn't. If information is still helpful after x amount of time it who cares how long it was posted.. It's usually the guys that also respond as follows "There are plenty of posts regarding your question do a quick search" I like to say to those people who would rather chime in taking energy to put us in our place.. Be a part of the solution not the problem.. I cn see you've dealt with them before as well. Appreciate your advice! Hopefully we can get this post to live long and prosper.. Lol ✌️✌️ Have a great day today! 🌞

Eagle, how can I find your post #108 to see the pictures of the adapted fender liners? I can't figure out how to find your build thread. Thanks.
